    The Little Bible Heroes series of books is designed to bring many of the most important stories in the Bible down to a young child’s level. These stories are illustrated using children and childlike people to bring to life these amazing true stories. At the end of each story, children are asked questions about how to apply the principles of the story to their own lives.
     
    Hannah prays for a baby. God answers her prayers, and she has a baby boy named Samuel. When Samuel is old enough, he goes to live in God’s temple, where he helps the high priest Eli. One night when Samuel lies down to sleep, he hears someone call his name. Samuel runs to Eli and says, “Here I am. You called me?” Eli says, “I didn’t call you, go back to sleep.” Samuel hears someone call his name again and runs to Eli. Eli sends him back to bed. Samuel hears someone call his name a third time. Now Eli knows that God is calling Samuel, so Eli says, “If you are called again, answer, ‘Speak, Lord, your servant is listening’.” God calls Samuel again, and He speaks to him. As Samuel grows up, he becomes a great prophet of God and a leader.
