About this ebook

For most, the Jersey Devil is a great campfire story; a devious creature derived from the depths of imaginative folktales. For over two centuries, it has scared hikers, hunters and campers of the New Jersey Pine Barrens. However, what most don’t know is...the Jersey Devil is alive, no longer satisfied with inducing haunts and chills. Now, only blood can satiate its appetite.

Detective Matthews has a problem. Not the one with his boss or the fact he doesn’t think highly of his colleagues. He’s ok with all that. His dilemma is trying to figure out how someone can rip limbs clear out of a victim’s sockets.

Casey Windall, a paranormal journalist, is making her own enquiries into the bizarre killings occurring in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey. When she mentions her theory about the Jersey Devil to Detective Matthews, he brushes it off. She’s won’t relent. Her research points to it as a bizarrely legitimate option. He begins to yield as nothing else adds up. He has few clues and even less leads.

When Hunter’s captain denies him access to resources for following up on a possible suspect, he teams up with Casey. Together they track down the suspect only to watch him savagely killed by the Jersey Devil in front of their eyes. Now, alone in their search and certitude about the killings, they begin to find themselves bonding over more than strange folklore.

As Hunter and Casey come closer to revealing the truth about the creature, one of them discovers a connection to the beast. Their final decision on whether or not they can destroy it will determine if the Jersey Devil continues its reign of terror or simply fades back into the scary campfire stories everyone else believes it is.

I’m a lifelong resident of New Jersey. I’ve been writing since high school. In college, I ventured into the realm of television production where I eventually evolved into writing promotions and tv ads for many years. Writing The Jersey Devil was something of a lifelong goal. Initially it started as a short story that I wrote ages ago. However, I always felt I could turn the idea into a novel. After many starts and stops over the years, I finally resolved to put my ass in the chair, set down written goals for its achievement and got working at it. The book took less than a year to write the first draft. It took a couple more of trimming, altering, tweaking, rearranging before I was finally satisfied that it was ready for public consumption. The folklore of New Jersey’s most popular mythological creature has fascinated since I was a kid. My first encounter with the creature happened at church camp. Located in the middle of the Pine Barrens, I remember the camp counselors telling us stories about the beast around the nightly campfires. I became transfixed. Over the years, I researched and read a variety of books on the legendary creature. I have also hiked many trails in this part of the state – not looking for the creature but enjoying the unique beauty the area offers. To say fleeting thoughts of the beast never entered my mind while walking in the waning light of dusk would be a lie but those thoughts did offer ideas that you will read in the book. I am currently working on other projects that involve aspects of the thriller genre and look forward to sharing them in the future. If you have purchased my book, thank you for taking the time to read it.
