I never seemed to get used to the feeling of drinking blood, no matter how good it tasted. And I needed it…. I craved it, without it I would die. There is something about the taste of blood that changes. It takes on a sweetness that was never there before. The craving is intoxicating…
For the last four months I had been trying to adjust to this life style. I don’t even know how I got to this point. I never asked to be a vampire, but HE came and turned me into one despite that. He said it would make the other
one mad, enraged.
My name is…well I don’t think that matters anymore. By human years I’m 22. I’ll be 23 in a couple of months. I spent several months missing from this world. My world. And then I was brought back here, because they were hunting him.
The only thing that still made me feel the slightest bit like myself was that I was still as female as I ever was.
It was strange; I was so pale now I didn’t even feel comfortable in my own skin. It was like fresh snow in color, and looked just as gentle. My hair had changed so it had become similar in color. It was whiter than even my pale skin. I wasn’t even sure that was possible until it had finished changing color.
I was no taller than before, only 5’2. But I was so much faster now, so much smarter. I could remember things, anything! And I could think of nothing or anything at the same time, it’s hard to describe, I just remember it feeling like such a rush having that much information go through my head at one time. I almost felt like I would break from the overflow of information.
I had become stronger too. I could lift cars over my head without any effort, one in each hand even! I could run up walls as easily if they were the ground, like a spider. And I could jump so far now! I could almost clear a four-lane highway, but not quite. The others laughed at me, said I was still weak for a vampire. They could clear the highway, and run much faster than I could now. Which was almost scary, because with a little effort I could outrun most sports cars going 85-90 mph. The other vampire probably went far over 90.
You may wonder if there is a point to talking about my being a vampire now, I’m getting to it.
I had a friend when I was human, Remmie Kyle. Remmie had a light brown hair color, almost red most of the time, but not entirely. He was just about 5’7 or so, and was never very strong looking (though you couldn’t always tell with Remmie, he’d surprise you by doing something which would show how strong he was). He was only a couple of years older than me, and like most of our friends we had several things in common, though there was still a fair number of things we didn’t have in common.
He worked a job he hated, like most people, and tried hard to improve himself. He was always good at martial arts, which he started focusing on seriously after his brother passed away. He was always an amazing musician also, though he never talked about it. His music dedication had to do with his sister, who had passed away in the same accident that claimed his brother. It was a tragedy, but it helped define the person I came to have as my best friend. I know he would have been happier if they had survived, and don’t misunderstand, I don’t wish them dead. I’m just happy I have the Remmie I have.
We both liked writing, but he wasn’t as good as it as I was. I would finish 5 chapters in the time it would take him to finish the prologue. He would joke about it with me. I miss hanging out with him. I remember one day, we were just talking about who knows what, and we got on the conversation of how he was so much more relaxed around me than anyone else. He looked me right in the eyes, and it was like he had hypnotized me for the smallest second.
You bring out the best of me. It’s almost like I have no choice but to be this way around you. It’s like… that’s just the affect you have on me.
He smiled after that and said still looking at me, And it keeps getting worse.
It was funny…I knew exactly what he meant. He liked the effect I had on him. He had said at another point that I made him feel like him. But I hadn’t seen him in months. The last time I saw him was in that cave. He had come to rescue me. He had looked so different. His hair had been down to his shoulders, and he looked so much angrier. He had looked so much deadlier. He had fought and killed so many of the vampires who had kept me and another girl hostage.
I had know her name…she would probably be sad now if she knew I forgot it. We had become friends, but I had such an active mind now names were a smaller, and harder thing to remember.
I’m way off track…
Until today, I had not seen Remmie in what felt like an eternity. But today went so horrible…
He had changed again in the last several months. His hair was shorter again, like it always had been normally. About an inch long. But he smelled strange now…like burnt pork.
And his whole body almost seemed like it had been vibrating when he had stepped out of the shadows were the vampires had been making me feed.
I liked the strength and the abilities… but the killing. I couldn’t do it. But they would still force me to feed off the victims, and as much as I hated it, I loved it. I loved the blood so, so much.
I had smelled him before seeing him seconds ago, the smell didn’t burn my nose. I looked up from my victim, the blood still warm on my lips. The smell had been strangely familiar, but mixed with a new scent, the burnt one. He had stepped out of the shadows, glowing blue, literally. He had these marks on his lower arms that burned in the air like his skin was on fire. Over his right eye the same blue glow seemed to burn on his forehead, curving around the right side of his face and towards his ear.
His brown eyes, as dark as ever, did not glow blue. All the same it’s like they danced as if they were on fire. And the way he looked at me… I forgot all about the other vampires in that instance. Remmie wanted to kill them, but I couldn’t tell, did he want to kill me too? It almost felt like it.
Remmie…?
I had called to him lightly, almost a whisper. But he had heard it, and he knew my voice. His eyes softened at the sound of my voice and he looked at me then the same way he always had.
He started to move toward me, and I went to move towards him. I saw his reaction swiftly change, and maybe a spilt second later I felt myself fly off my feet as the other two vampire who had been making me feed grabbed my arms and ran, pulling me back. I was still facing forward and watched Remmie as they pulled me away from him. His expression had become fierce again, but it seemed to change in those seconds he would look at me, then slide back. But it would have been so fast human eyes would not have noticed the change.
And now, more than ever before I was aware of just how inhuman Remmie had become. He was keeping up with us as they ran. He was keeping up with the vampires as they ran.
They forced me into the car we had come in, parked only a few blocks away. They moved faster now that they had released me. One slid into the seat next to me and pushed me to the other side of the car. I don’t even know what we were in, I thought I heard one of them say BMW
, but aside from that I didn’t know anything about the car except it was black. The other slid into the driver’s seat and had the car on so fast I only remember the feeling of the car accelerating as his foot hit the gas. I found it ironic that the song playing was Living Dead Girl by Rob Zombie. I had learned a bunch of new songs since I started living with vampires. Or being made to live with them
A hand shattered the window on the side of the car I was on as it sped forward and gripped the window as the car took off. Remmie was holding onto the car, trying to pull himself forward with one hand while the rest of his body fought the wind and environment as the vampire driver drove wild trying to shake him off, going up and off curbs, hitting newspaper stands, and even pedestrians. I could hear cracking sounds from Remmie and pained sounds through gritted teeth as he endured it. We had to be going over 100 miles per hour!
The vampire in the seat next to me shattered the back window, grabbed the upper part of the car, slid out kicking Remmie free of his iron grip on the car, and slid back into the seat. I wasn’t even sure I had seen it correct it had happened so quickly!
I turned to see Remmie, and saw a strange blue string fire out of his wrist and pierce
