    Introduction: WE ARE THE SEEKERS

"All I ask is a tall ship

and a star to sail her by…"

    - John Masefield

    (Sea Fever)

We are the seekers; we are the dreamers of dreams, and we can manifest them into reality. I am the Seeker on a quest, and I believe you’re the Seeker on your own quest, too. And we are on our way to attain what we seek. What we seek is the aim with a light of awareness that provides direction for action, and our energy will create the means by which to achieve it.

From the potential within each moment to the possibilities of lifetime achievements, what is your quest? Name it and claim it. To realize your direction and next steps, clarify your sincerest desire and allow your path to open up to you.

You, as the seeker, may be on a quest for self-realization, spiritual enlightenment, personal balance, good health, well-being, wisdom, knowledge, love, companionship, partnership, skills, talents, opportunities for service and support, or to enhance and fulfill the aspirations of your life and/or business, or even for the clarity of a sense of direction, and maybe you even have several quests. In all such events, your personal performance and self-development are significant factors that are part of the journey whether as a factor of fulfillment or a challenge to your aspirations. Self-development is simply the act of creating yourself continuously, and it includes anything that strengthens, exercises, or benefits your body, mind, spirit and/or behaviors, and empowers you, your life, and livelihood. Your active performance supported by continuous self-development will sustain you along the way.

You may not have all the answers as you begin to clarify your direction, but together we will explore and consider these questions to bring your awareness to the matter, and open yourself to the possibilities:

    * What does success mean to you in accordance with your heart’s desire?

    * What’s important to you, and what do you value?

    * In what way would you describe yourself personally, professionally and spiritually?

    * How do you feel about your present conditions?

    * What do you aspire to know, or be, or do in your future?

    * What are your intentions?

    * What is the vision of your fulfillment?

    * What purpose do you wish to serve personally and/or professionally that will benefit others or your community?

    * What areas of Self-development will you pursue?

    * And what could you contribute in a team with another person or a group of people, or an organization, company or community that both you and they would appreciate? Or, are you rather not a team player and prefer your own independence, and if so, then in what manner and what purpose will your independence serve?"

As you clarify your answers to these and other questions in this book, you will come to realize and recognize your direction and path. If you do not have all the answers right away, keep in mind that these are just some of the questions that will help you as the seeker on a quest. These questions may also be the same questions asked of you by others as they are the seekers of the people they desire to help fulfill the purposes and needs of their teams and goals, and in whom they may invest their time and resources, and call upon.

I am the Seeker, too, much like you. I am always on a quest and in the process of self-development, sometimes including seeking a job for employment through a challenging and changing economy or as part of my own continuous self-improvement. Even when we are well employed or well committed in a relationship the quest with self-development remains continuous. I am always seeking wisdom and knowledge through spiritual development and ways and solutions to cultivate a better world, and I seek the means for reasonable sustenance, and the fulfillment of success with peace, love and creativity, and it’s a continuous process.

As an author and working professional, along the path of my life’s aspirations I have enjoyed accomplishments in publishing, community relations, spiritual development, corporate training and performance development, and both personal and professional travels, and as part of the path I have also faced the balance of many challenges, struggles, and great hardships. Even with the utmost of necessary skills, knowledge, abilities and experience, I have been knocked off my path and detoured from my greatest personal and professional aspirations under the hardest of economic and challenging environmental conditions. I have been taken to the edge of the metaphoric cliff and even hit rock bottom only to faithfully persevere climbing up the proverbial mountain of life with continued awareness of my ultimate aims as an author and active participant in the cultivation of a better world.

We all may have stories of hard times or being broke (broke in mind, body, spirit, relationships, society, finances, or otherwise), or how it was to be at the brink thereof. For my financially broke times, I will always remember the Starving Student Diet which consisted of .10 to .15 cent ramen noodles and whatever wild fruit was growing in the neighborhood at the season (such as, figs, apples and oranges around California State University Northridge and West Valley neighborhoods), and making flatbread from flour and water topped with wild rosemary herbs. In times of sporadic employment as an independent freelancer, feast and famine was a fact of life, in which the Starving Student Diet plan was part of the menu even after graduation. The way the economy has gone, ramen is up to .20 to .35 cents or more these days, and now even the Starving Student Diet is more challenging.

Through all such challenges, as we may continue through the journey on our quest with good times and bad times, we are also challenged to maintain faith and focus on ultimate aims and core values with a heart of service. The experience of hardships is a strengthening along our journey, and oftentimes opens the opportunity to deepen a spiritual quest; in all cases they reinforce that no matter the extent of the challenge or how near or far on-or-off target we may get or be, we need to maintain and realize that service and self-development are continuous processes that require the focus of energy, aim, and action, and oftentimes creative diligence.

My grandfather, Emmanuel Silos, was an award winning film director in the Philippines during his lifetime; and thus, the idea of Light’s, Camera, Action! has been in my family since before my time. Now, I have taken the idea to the next level with a translation into "Energy,
