    So on this particular evening, he had been drinking, he was in a somewhat talkative mood, and we decided to have a conversation downstairs in the kitchen. By the time we started the conversation it was already late at night, and we chatted for possibly one and a half hours. I was so mindful that he was drunk. Once again he started to thank me for coming to visit him in hospital.“Junia, I have not thanked you for coming to visit me in hospital!” To this I replied:“You've thanked me so many times already.” I then shyly explained to him that I had not gone to the hospital solely for him, but I had also gone largely for myself. I explained that I had loved going to see him, and he had been so cute back then. I actually used the word cute. I found this so embarrassing, that, much to my regret, I was too shy to look at him, but I could only look forward, away from him. How dangerous it would have been to look into his eyes! That was to be the last time that he would thank me for coming to visit him in hospital.
