About this ebook

When life gives you lemons, kill zombies — turns out lemon juice neutralizes the undead.

After a failed attempt at running away, former best friends Nathan and Misty return home expecting to face angry parents. Instead, they discover the military has destroyed the bridges out of their rural town and everyone's fled—except a small horde of the living dead. The stress of flesh-eating zombies may be more than their already strained relationship can handle.

Even with the help of the town geek and lemonade-powered Super-Soakers, there's not enough time to squeeze their way out of this sticky mess. Unless the trio eradicates the zombie infestation, while avoiding the deadly zombie snot, the military will blow the town, and them, to pulp.
Their only shot is something with a lot more punch. Something like the Super Zombie Juice Mega Bomb. But even if their friendship survives, there's another problem: Someone has to lure the undead into the trap.

Nate and Misty are best friends that decide to sneak out and go camping. When they return the next day the whole town is completely empty of people. Trying to figure out were their families and friends have gone, they run into zombies. While trying to find a way to stay alive and not become one of the un-dead the two run into several situations that are laugh out loud funny book. With their life on the line it comes apparent what is important to a teenager (clean underware and not distroying his Father's car). Fun to read to all ages.

Next it is geared toward kids and finally it is an extremely funny read due to the fact that lemon juice could have the power to deliver zombies into the hands of true death.I found this a wonderful new take on ways to neutralize the undead nuisances and had a wonderful time reading and visualizing Misty, Nathan, and Kali’s adventure. Nathan and Misty, friends since forever, run away together only to realize that they probably aren't going to make it on their own. They head back home in order to face the wrath of their parents and find that the entire town has been zombiefied. The military has blown up the bridges going into town and is going to vaporize everything with firebombs unless all the zombies are dead. Nathan and Misty rescue a super smart 9 year old named Kali and between the three of them, they set out to destroy the zombies thereby saving themselves. Told from Nathan's point of view, readers get a sense of his emotions and internal dialogue as he interacts with Misty and Kali. This book is aimed at middle school aged children. Zombies have been popular for awhile now and this book continues that trend but in a less scary and funnier way. Tweens and teens who think zombies are interesting or who are interested in science will enjoy this book. Highly Recommended.

This is a great book for kids and parents! I read the books before I let my daughter, who is 9 but reading at a 6th grade level, read them. I enjoyed reading this story so much I read it in one sitting.

We start with two kids who run off to camp out and when they return they find the town over run by dead people who have returned to life. They find a way to setup camp in a local Walmart and manage to keep safe. They eventually find a 3rd kid who had been left behind and they get together and work to save the town before the town is destroyed by the Military.

To start off, I want to say that I am a zombie aficionado. I read and watch zombie stuff that most would pass on. This book is aimed at pre-teen to teen age boys (and possibly girls but the view point is completely boy). I think this is a great book for that audience.I have yet to get my 9 year old son to read it (he is currently obsessed with the percy jackson series) but I figure he eventually will want to. I feel that the book is entirely safe for him. No violence, sex or anything remotely like that. The story is about a boy and a girl who, after running away, return to a town infested with zombies. They accidentally discover a special mixture that can destroy the zombies and set out to save the town with super soakers and a fire truck. There are a couple of inconsistencies here and there. The most glaring to me is how they seem to switch from very young and naive (never been kissed for example)to almost a adult like (like driving a car and punching a grown man and knocking him down). I don't think these will detract from the enjoyment of the target audience. There are some very funny bits. One good example was the two old lady zombies and the false teeth. That had me laughing out loud.

Calling this a "graphic novel" seems a bit silly given that it's all stick figures, but while the graphics may be skimpy, the story makes up for it. This is a send-up of the zombie genre with the emphasis more on laughs than horror, and it's definitely fun.[Disclosure: This was received for free as part of a Member Giveaway in exchange for a review]

I wasn't sure about this book - I love George Romero zombie movies but the walking dead usually don't work so well in books, maybe because they aren't much in the way of conversationalists. But I gotta say I really enjoyed this story. It's cute and funny - not only would middle graders enjoy it but it worked pretty well for a middle ager like me, too.And the illustrations are priceless. They made me giggle and what more can you ask from a graphic novel?

A fun read for the young reader. Tamed-down zombies that fit nicely into the current zombie craze, without the graphic gore that usually accompanies them. Plus a nice inventive way of killing the zombies without having the characters pack around shotguns.

I really enjoyed this book. It is a great zombie horror for a pre-horror lover who is not really ready for real gore. Great writing for its intended age group. It doesn't spend too much of the writing about scenary and feelings; a lot of dialogue so it felt like reading a movie. The writing style is comparable to the Wimpy Kid books, which my daughter loves. I will pass this on to her.

A humorous tale of friendship complicated by growing up, zombie invasion and lemonade. This YA story relates the story of Nate and Misty, best friends who have grown up together, and what happens to them after they decide to go camping one night, without permission from their respective parents. Returning home, knowing they are going to be in big trouble, they find that almost everyone in their town has vanished. When they meet up with Mayor Frank, things go from bad to worse. This book has a good mixture of gore (not to explicit), zombies, friendship and humor which will appeal to the YA reader.I received this ebook from a Librarything giveaway and this is my unsolicited review.

I have a a 10 year old boy and an 8 year old girl, both of them absolutely love this book. They are both very picky about what they read and have NEVER read the same book, so when they actually start talking about it after school to see how far the other had gotten and compare notes I was amazed! I read the first few pages in chapter 4 before letting my kids loose with it and I was impressed that the author was able to give a realistic description of what a zombie looks like without being overly graphic. Honestly, I've have been more grossed out by what they show on cartoons like SpoongeBob.

I won this book from a LibraryThings giveawaySuper Zombie Juice Mega Bombby: MJA WareThis is a book for teen readers although I really enjoyed it also. There is a twist to this book that zombies die by lemonaid (love that) The characters are all enjoyable and the book has some humor even though it is a zombie story. It's a great read for the younger readers and would highly recommend it. It's also not "super scary" so it's nice transition book into typical adult "zombie" books.

I received a free copy of this book and am very happy to offer a review. The story is for kids, but does offer depth for adult readers. I have to say my favorite character in the book was Kali. He is a 9 year old mini-Spock and he added a lot to the story, even though he started out as a supporting character. There are great themes here for kids to appreciate. The characters love and respect their parents, although they are disobedient initially. The common message of friendship, loyalty and self-sacrifice make this a very positive way to entertain kids that enjoy zombie guts and gore.

This is not your typical shoot in the head and kill zombie story. However, Super Zombie Juice Mega Bomb, is a great zombie apocolypse novel. I like how the author decided to go outside the boundaries of normal and make the zombies killable by lemonade. All the characters were very enjoyable, and in that awkward pre-adolscent stage. You could really identify with the sadness, frustration, and despair the characters felt. Although, by no means was this an entirely sad book. It had funny and witty moments in it also. Nate needing underwear and always destroying it made me chuckle. The short stories at the end of the book were good also. Super Zombie Mega Juice bomb was a very enjoyable book. I would highly reccomend it for young readers and zombie fans alike.

Who doesn’t wonder how long they would survive if zombies invaded? Super Zombie Juice Mega Bomb gives us a tongue in cheek take on the current wave of survivalist zombie books. Gory enough to keep the boys entertained but not too violent to scare moms. The violence is necessary and evolves the plotline. The writing is concise and the plot action packed. An enjoyable read and perfect for that reluctant reader.

What would you do if zombies invaded your hometown? Well, we're about to find out with Nate and Misty! These two are forced to be resourceful and find a way to survive when all the adults are gone or zombified. For a children book, it has strong characters and an engaging plot. In a zombie-infested city, the action never really ends. There is an interesting power dynamic between Misty and Nate. Both are strong in their own ways and that makes them believable and fun to learn about. This book would make a wonderful gift for children of all ages. It would be a great way to introduce children to "scary zombies" without it being too scary. I think adults would enjoy this too if they looking for a short but sweet read. Won in a giveaway in return for an honest review

My 8 yr old Nephew loved this book. This is his review. Nate & Misty are bestfriends. They decide to run away after they get grounded for sneaking out. When they come home they see the town is full of zombies. They are really smart and move in to a Walmart. By accident they find out that zombies can be killed with lemons and different things that have acid in them. They meet a genius named Kali that help them kill the zombies with a really cool firetruck. Awesome book.

This book was the perfect blend of 'B movie' humor and the zombie gore I love, and I say that with all the positive feeling I can. I loved this book! The characters were fun, and refreshing. The violence was necessary, bloody, and at times funny.Obviously this was written for slightly younger audiences than the other Zombie books I've been reading, but it's probably the one that I had the most fun reading. It definitely doesn't fit the horror genre, but Ware has hit the nail on the humorous angle of zombies.Parts of the plot are similar to what you would expect in any zombie movie, but Ware acknowledges this and has fun doing so. The best part is that he works with what he has. These are young teens, preteens really, and they don't have access to guns or other weapons, and they certainly don't start off with mature survival instincts. Their first idea is to go to the mall. Too bad it's a strip mall. Then they head for Walmart, which is a much better idea. But even then they do some silly things, the first night the get a TV, and then set up a generator inside. His concept for lemon juice to be lethal to zombies is great. It gives his characters something to work with that doesn't seem too obvious for them, especially since they discover it by accident.I was surprised by the ending, and had thought it would end a bit differently, with a perfect happy ending that most lighthearted children/middle grade/YA novels do, but Ware gave us a happy ending that is still sad.Overall, an awesomely fun read, and I would definitely recommend this for ages 9 and up, particularly boys.

Review of “Super Zombie Juice Mega Bomb”A cute novel about two teenagers stuck in a zombie invasion. Aided by the knowledge of a 10 year old genius named Kali, Nate and Misty having run away from their parents, are coming home to what they assume to be trouble, and find it in the sense of a science fiction nightmare. The story is well written, part romance, or as romantic as two pre-teens can be, and part adventure. Truly a good read, something I could see being in the bookshelves’ of a middle school library.

This book has to be one of the most interesting takes on Zombies I’ve read yet. The author is quick and to the point. No time wasted on nonsense and all the detail you need to understand what’s going on. It is perfect for young adult readers. The story it’s self is simple. Two kids run away and go camping on their own, then when coming back home realize there is not a living soul around. They run around trying to figure everything out while trying to stay alive. They come across a remarkable discovery. A way to kill the zombies that is simply genius in its simplicity. They also meet up with a 3rd child from the town, who happens to be a tiny tan genius. Mayhem and Wal-Mart ensues. It’s a very cute story and very interesting take on zombies. It’s short and sweet. I would recommend this book if you’re looking for a quick read without much commitment, or if you have a young horror fan at home. There isn’t very much gore and it’s easy to understand and get into.

Want to save the world? Want to eradicate the living dead? There is a way to do it if you just have the tools, or in this case ingredients. head on over to your closest grocer and pick up everything you need to survive the zombie apocalypse. Lemons. Yes. You read that right. Lemons. You know how the old saying goes, when life hands you lemons, you squirt them at zombies. Wait, no, well, it was something like that. Misty and Nate run away for a camping trip after being told they can no longer hang out with each other. On their return, their small town is a ghost town. There was no one to be found anywhere, oh - if only it could have stayed a ghost town, that may have been easier to deal with. Misty and Nate are faced with an adventure that no kid should have to go through alone. A fight for their lives ensues and what happens to them will really surprise you. Finally a zombie book for the YA audience that has the perfect balance of creepy but not too much for the younger reader. It has great horror elements in the plot and loads of zombie action. This book is a great way to let your budding horror fan indulge while knowing the content will not be too "adult". This book will catch your attention from the beginning and make you want to keep reading until the very end. Adults and YA audiences alike will have something they can enjoy with this book. The cover is amazing, the characters are vividly depicted, the heroism in the book is admirable, and the zombies are scary. This is coming out perfectly timed for the Halloween season, and I will be passing this onto my two daughters for their Halloween reading.

Chapter 1 – Blizzards, Bites, and Zombies

Ever have a really bad day? I'm not talking miss the bus, caught cheating on a test, bike gets stolen bad. I mean people dying and coming back from the dead to eat your brains bad.

This whole mess started one night when my best friend Misty messaged me, "DQ run now!"

I'm as down with Butterfinger Blizzards as anybody, but it was almost eleven p.m. Somehow, she talked me into it—I can never say no to her. I mean, I can say it once or twice, but after eight or nine times, I give in.

You might have guessed, we didn't exactly ask permission. Misty snuck out by climbing down a window above her garage and jumping into an overgrown bush. Maybe it was the three waffle sundaes she'd eaten, but to get back up it looked like she was going to need a boost.

Ready? I whispered, clasping my hands over my knee.

I don't think so, Nate. I'm wearing a skirt. Even in the dim glow of the neighbor's porch light, I could see the wrinkles in her brow.

Then how you going to get back up?

I can climb.

In your skirt? I stood back, folding my arms. Misty had always been more t-shirt and cutoff jeans. Why'd you wear a skirt, anyway? Who sneaks out in a skirt?

She ignored me and started pulling herself up the rain gutter.  By the third try, I knew, skirt or not, I was going to have to help.

I stepped forward when from behind me came a deep grunt, like a yeti clearing its throat.

Turning around, Misty's dad towered over us, arms crossed, naked except for knit socks and shorts; his huge, hairy muffin-top forcing the band of his briefs into submission.

Even in his skivvies, he was an imposing figure. Picture Atlas, if all he ever held up were jelly donuts. I didn't know if I should laugh or run.

Normally Misty's dad is too nice, one of those big guys with an even bigger soft spot—especially when it came to his only daughter—but that night, boy, did he holler.

He grounded Misty for the whole summer. Not from her girlfriends, just from me—even canceled our camping trip. Our families go every year, so that made it a tradition or something.

Almost three weeks passed before I heard a peep from Misty. I wasn't sure if her dad really came down on her or if she was just too busy to bother with me.

Finally, she called. Guess I should feel honored.

Hey, Nate, ready to go camping?

Who's this? I think you may have dialed the wrong number.

Nathan! she screamed. Dad's keeping me under house arrest. Even confiscated my cell. It's so humiliating. The echo told me she was probably hiding out in her dad's workshop. So, you up for camping or not?

Apparently, no one had bothered to tell her the trip was off. I tried to break the news gently. Where've you been? Your dad put the smackdown on camping.

There wasn't much to do in our tiny mountain town, so this trip was the highlight of our summer: fishing, ghost stories, eating s'mores until you puke.

Just because our parents are being stupid doesn't mean we can't go.

I don't normally do crazy things like run away from home. Which is probably why we weren’t prepared. We lasted all of one night. Who knew a jumbo box of Little Betty Brownie Bites could go so fast?

On our way back, we knew we were in trouble, but had no idea just how much.

Maybe running away wasn't such a good idea, I said, scanning the lifeless town. The sun crawled over the horizon, casting long shadows like bony fingers reaching down to clutch the empty streets.

You think? Misty said with an edge to her voice.

We'd been walking around for over an hour and hadn't seen anyone. How'd I know everyone would...

Vanish. She finished my sentence. They're all gone, Nathan. They can't all be out looking for us, not every single person in the whole entire town. She shook her head.

Calm down. Let's think this out. I listened for familiar sounds, people, cars…even the trees were silent.

Think what out? Nobody's here. I can't even get a single bar. Misty stood on the side of the road, brandishing her phone like a weapon.

Updating your online status is the least of our problems, I shot back.

This isn't a joke, Nate. We're in deep here. Deep, deep, deep! She paused—probably winded from carrying on so much—then pointed across the street. Look, someone's there.

From across the road, Mayor Frank waddled towards us. Just our luck, only person in town and it has to be him?

Geez, a little early to be wasted, I said. Besides mayor, he was also the town drunk.

Mayor Frank, over here, Misty yelled.

Now you've done it. He's headed this way. I wiped my palms on my jeans; something wasn't right.

Nate, shut up. We could use a little help.

He almost fell over three times while crossing the street. His clothes looked like they'd spent more time in the gutter than on his back. His eyes, swollen and cloudy—he looked sick. I'd never seen eyes like that.

The mayor didn't say a word, just reached out his two pasty arms. I thought he might shake our hands. He was one of those phony politicians. Instead, he grabbed Misty and went in for a big, open-mouth kiss.

I'm not sure what came over me. I'd never hit anyone—except Misty's older brothers—and then only in a desperate act of self-defense. But I wasn't about to let this creep kiss her.

I cocked my arm back and with everything I had, socked the mayor in the face.

He folded, flat to the floor.

Grabbing my hand, I winced in pain. Misty screamed, her long hair whipping around as she jumped back.

My mind raced. Oh, no. I just punched the mayor. I took a step toward him. Mr. Mayor, I'm sorry. I thought you—

I looked down at my hand as I spoke, thinking maybe I busted a knuckle. It throbbed so bad I didn't notice the mayor roll over and grab my foot until it was too late; he sank his teeth into my lower leg.

Ouch, I yelled as I tried to wiggle free. He wouldn't let go. What was I supposed to do? Ever been bitten by your little sister? Try a three-hundred pound drunk politician.

I just started kicking. After the third kick, my hiking boot flew off, still dangling from his mouth.

Nate, you kicked the mayor in the face! Misty's hands covered her mouth, but did little to mask her expression of horror.

We took off running, our backpacks clanking behind us.

Those are Gore-tex boots, they're over two hundred bucks, I said, running lopsided down the street. If my dad found out, he'd kill me.

I looked at Misty. Her wide, hazel eyes scanned the deserted roads, flashing with alarm. Standing tall, California Firs blocked our view more than a couple blocks. I couldn't help but feel responsible for this mess. I should have tried to talk her out of running away.

Maybe Misty's dad was right; I was a bad influence.

Chapter 2 – Snookum's Last Stand

A few minutes after punching a public servant in the face, we finally stopped running in front of Misty's house with its familiar faded cedar siding. It was old and rustic, but solid. It'd probably last forever.

I wiggled my fingers, making sure they still worked. It never hurt when a guy punched someone in one of those old karate movies Misty and I used to watch.

Nate, what the heck happened? Misty was breathing hard. She might have been in better shape than me. Athletic, but definitely not in a big-boned, husky sorta way.

I don't know. I took a few deep breaths before continuing, I've heard the mayor is grabby, but that was ridiculous. He could be your gramps. And did you see his fogged-over eyes?

His eyes? You shoulda smelled his breath—like a rotting cheeseburger. Misty squirmed from head to toe.

Wait until I tell your brothers. Or your dad—

Nathan Patrick Lewis. You are not to tell a soul. Misty kicked up some dirt as she stood nose-to-nose with me. I'd been praying all year for a growth spurt. If it didn't come soon, she'd be taller than me. Do you understand? she said as if she could intimidate me.
