PREFACE
Contrary to current myth, image isn’t everything. The person you are on the inside is most important. Women of all sizes and shapes, however, have developed the habit of judging their bodies harshly and finding faults that others wouldn’t – and don’t – even notice. Over time, this negative self-talk wears down your self-esteem and injures your spirit.
This book is designed to help you recognize the beautiful person you are on the outside and honor the exquisite being you are on the inside. You’ll find strategies to make the most of your figure and diagrams of the perfect clothing styles for you.
Flattering your body has nothing to do with the amount of money you spend. Want proof? Just look at the society pages in your local newspaper for examples of some women who look frumpy and lumpy in expensive, designer clothing. There are figure-flattering choices whether you shop at a discount store or the priciest, most exclusive boutiques.
As you begin reading this book, I invite you to take a picture of yourself in your current look to record your starting point. Come back to this photo as you step through your transformation so you can appreciate your progress.
The companion Dress Yourself Skinny workbook will provide further support as you transform your wardrobe and document the emergence of your new body.

In the quest for comfortable clothing, it’s easy to settle for styles that aren’t flattering or fashionable. In the effort to camouflage our imperfections, we often cover up our best qualities. For example, have you ever worn an oversized shirt or jacket to try to cover up a lump or roll? The boxy jacket does cover the roll, and it also adds volume to your body making you look
