Being Selfish is Good for You: and the World!

About this ebook
Myth: “You must always put others before yourself” How many of us have grown up with these words ringing in our ears? This book challenges the idea that it is always important to put others before yourself. It goes as far as to say that it is very important that you do exactly the opposite and put yourself first. This will not make you a hard or uncaring person, but it may help you to feel happier in your own skin and improve your relationships with others!

I live in Aveyron, France, with my husband Tom. We have lived here since October 2012 and have created our own home from a very old building that once had pigs living on the ground floor! Our aim is to live a simple, but comfortable life. This is partly because it is the way we enjoy living but also to provide an example of a different way of living that is hopefully a positive one! I am passionate about the environment and very concerned about the harm that we are causing to our planet. I believe that we are at a point in history where we have the opportunity to make a positive difference to the future of the world and feel optimistic that it is possible for this to happen if enough people want it to. I am also concerned about the effect that modern living and expectations has on people's happiness and their ability to be creative and to fully participate in life, therefore one of the things that motivates me to write is to try and improve the planet and the lives of those who live on it. I co-created 'The One Course' - helping people to 'Love life and find their purpose', with my husband Tom. We can tailor the delivery of this course to suit different people, situations and environments and I am currently working on a One Course book to enable the material to be accessible to people living in situations which make it difficult or impossible for them to take part in a conventional style course.
