Descripción
"A mother is she who can take the place of all others, but whose place no one else can take." -Cardinal Mermillod
When a mother dies, often the center of the family is gone. The holiday rituals, the special birthday celebrations for children and grandchildren--the memories are often held by the mother. A mother is a caretaker, a best friend, a source of sage-like wisdom. Losing her can be a traumatic experience.
In the Letting Go is not a guide through the stages of grief. Instead, it acts as a place of refuge for your memories and emotions. It is a space where you are invited to discover solace through the experiences and feelings of others—simple or profound.
A collection of quotations, poems, ancient proverbs, and stories from the likes of Winston Churchill, Madeleine L’Engle, and Jonathon Lazear himself, this book acts as a companion to your grief whenever and wherever you might need it.

Love and gratitude to my mother, not yet gone a year, but who, since her death, has taught me a great deal. I never realized how much one can receive if one is open to it.
To my father, my sister Conni, and my brother Chris, who took their own paths these past months. I'm not certain where your journeys took you, but I know you've all traveled far.
To my children, Ross and Michael, who, without knowing it, have been a comfort to me, and carry on some vestige of my mother through their acts and deeds.
To Tim Claussen, who was enormously thoughtful when my mother died. He contributed to the book, in more ways than one.
To my friend Anne Wilson Schaef, who continues to be the pioneer in healing. She, too, knows how to listen.
To my friends, who support me in many ways; Eric Vrooman and Dennis Cass, Al and Franni Franken, Susie Lampert, Arlene and Harold Shepard, Bill Contardi, and Dale Burg, for their warmth and humor.
To Evelyn Friedberg and family.
And finally, to Jan Johnson, a great editor who brings wit and wisdom to her work.
