About this audiobook
“Please admire my docile and obedient nature. I will not thank you for providing us with a home, nor will I even breathe a word of gratitude for your provision of such funds as will feed us each quarter. I will not even write such platitudes as ‘You are very good,’ given that you have also provided us with respectability in the form of Mrs. Ingles. There. I am quite done now with not expressing my gratitude – I should not at all wish to prove tiresome.”
From the author of Tact, Dear Nameless Stranger is a heartwarming tale inspired by Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice and Jean Webster’s Daddy Long Legs. Tragedy has struck the Bennet sisters but they are greatly relieved when the anonymous kindness of a stranger means that they can remain together. In exchange for such charity, a monthly letter is required from each sister. It is a fortunate thing that Miss Elizabeth Bennet rather likes letter-writing, for she relishes the opportunity to relate to this unknown gentleman all her impressions and opinions regarding her changed circumstances.
With each passing month Elizabeth confides more in the nameless stranger, and by the time Netherfield Park is once again occupied by the amiable Mr. Bingley and his friend Mr. Darcy, she is quite frank in writing of her dismay.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The best adaption/fanfic I have found to date. The author is very witty and had me laughing out loud! The narrator was also brilliant.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Cute story?. I enjoyed it and it was an easy listen.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5After reading almost every available Pride and Prejudice variation, I have found this book to be my favorite one of all time!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This homage to “Daddy Longlegs” is lovely. I very much enjoyed the two view perspective, especially when we see from Darcy’s view his coming to know Elizabeth’s sisters from reading their letters and how he comes to appreciate each of them for themselves. It also clears up a few mysteries that arise from Elizabeth’s letters. I love that Collins receives his just desserts after his horrible treatment of Elizabeth and her sisters. A really great read and I highly recommend!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Interesting, well written, quite different ending to the Austin story. I normally avoid such works as they plagiarize another’s characters. In this case, I was surprised at how Austin-like the story was and how different from the original. Well worth a read/listen.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5One of my favorite variations on two of my favorite books.
I just finished listening to it for the 2nd time, and I enjoyed it every bit as much as the first time.
Inventive, fun, and warm hearted. I loved the character development of the secondary characters, and especially how Mr. Darcy came to view them differently. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A very surprising read! It was by accident that I happened on this novel and I almost returned it thinking that no one could do any justice to a Jane Austen version… But all the more was my pleasure at reading such a true and eloquent depiction of our favorite heroines and the marvelous Mr. Darcy. I hope that this author will begin to take up her own plots and soon!
