This book broke my heart ?
He knew better! He knew!
This is the story of a rising musician and how a popular artist took advantage of her, raped her, tortured her and kept her from her family.
Unfortunate how this happens to women all over the world. Never in the same way but consistently the same outcome.
5⭐️ read and utter perfection!
I expected nothing less from Tiffany D Jackson.
She is such a great writer. The story is told in a way that makes you feel the pain and innocence ripped away.
Great book that can be used as part of the school syllabus to teach our kids about current societal battles, influences, abuse and the big bad, good, ugly and also hopeful world we live in.
A very necessary read! I’m really glad that I got a chance to read this book.

Had me on the edge of my seat as I hung from to word... scene to scene. Great book to shed light on how men and/or men with power can abuse it by manipulating girls. So many emotions ran through my core!
An important story. Difficult to read, especially at the beginning but powerful and meaningful at the end.

Read it, then listened to it. Even better the second time around. The actor is fantastic, she neva haffi do the lawyer man suh with the lisp lol but it was good.
The end last quarter of the book was really good...even though I feel like the premise was pretty much everything that we saw and heard about on Surviving R. Kelly...
Thank you for writing a book like this. The book drew so many emotions from my own personal experiences but so well thought out. A story that needs to be told!
Grown by Tiffany D. Jackson haunts your life after reading and darkens your world. I fear only certain women will experience this novel as intended.We all have dreams as teenagers, but some people have bigger dreams and the courage to go seek them out. Enchanted Jones's voice rises above most. She truly sings amazingly. She desperately wants to have a singing career and be famous. Her friend, Gab, covers for her and she tricks her mom into going to a singing competition. There she meets a famous child prodigy, Korey Fields, who has had awards and hits and is now in his late 20s. He takes her "under his wing," to help her begin her career. He knows exactly how to make her trust him. He has her sing for him and offers to create an album and invites her to tour with him. Never mind that she's 17. She's blinded by the fact that a famous singer helps her and even seems to like her. For someone who loves to sing, I didn't "feel" that fact in the novel. The novel is about victimization, not about establishing her character. You accept that her world revolves around singing because of the steps she takes to be famous and because she carries a notebook of songs, not because it truly is part of her character. it's a novel about her victimization-where she is removed by a predator. How does she get here? Korey's assistant agrees to be her guardian and Enchanted is allowed to go on tour with Korey. Life couldn't be better. Until Korey shows different sides to his personality. From here, the reader has to sit passively through the victimization by a man toward a teenage girl. It's brutal to sit, read, and have no control. To say any more about the plot would ruin some of what happens. Of course, we have all heard these stories, so there's also nothing new. Still, it's the brutality of sitting through it that you need to experience it. #metoo looms in the back of your mind as only the victims truly believe Enchanted. But, also, there is something new. The end isn't what you will expect, so read through, to really know everything. That people always talk about the "girl" and her motives and the "man" is given excuses for his behavior makes the novel so brutal. It also bothers me that people will read the novel and say, "Wow, she is stupid." It's hard to understand that someone may not know they've been abused, raped, or controlled. It can take years for someone to know this fact about themselves. Add in a teenager who has only known good people and admired talent. It's hard to argue because people don't listen--they resort back to the same language for girls and men. Being a black girl makes the story even more brutal because a black girl receives the least room for defense. I believe every teenage girl should be Luckiest Girl Alive by Jessica Knoll because it hits on more girls' experiences and then this novel to see how the powerful prey on the less powerful.
