A grandmother and granddaughter swap lives in The Switch, a charming, romantic novel by Beth O’Leary, who has been hailed as “the new Jojo Moyes” (Cosmopolitan UK)...
When overachiever Leena Cotton is ordered to take a two-month sabbatical after blowing a big presentation at work, she escapes to her grandmother Eileen's house for some long-overdue rest.
Eileen is newly single and about to turn eighty. She'd like a second chance at love, but her tiny Yorkshire village doesn't offer many eligible gentlemen.
So they decide to try a two-month swap.
Eileen will live in London and look for love. She’ll take Leena’s flat, and learn all about casual dating, swiping right, and city neighbors. Meanwhile Leena will look after everything in rural Yorkshire: Eileen’s sweet cottage and garden, her idyllic, quiet village, and her little neighborhood projects.
But stepping into one another's shoes proves more difficult than either of them expected. Will swapping lives help Eileen and Leena find themselves…and maybe even find true love? In Beth O'Leary's The Switch, it's never too late to change everything....or to find yourself.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5The narrators did an amazing job! I adore how vividly they acted out the different characters. Maybe I enjoyed The Flatshare, the first book of O'Leary, I had a very high expectation about this book. I am slightly disappointed by it. The pace is slow and the story, in general, is a bit boring for me. The self-growth of Leena is not that reflective or convincing for me to be honest. She isn't that fleshed out. It's hard to tell what her personality is. In comparison, the grandma or even all the other side-characters is full of characters.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Very touching listen. Funny and sad, the author did an excellent job of bringing these characters to life along with issues of grieving, aging, family and love. Grandma really stole the show. Go Ilene!

What a heartfelt lovely book to read! This book touched all my feels! The sweet budding romances, the quirkiness, and seeing how the switched opened up both Lena and Eileen’s eyes, there was just so much to love about this book. I enjoyed every second of this book. I really liked the storyline in this book. It reminded me a lot of the movie The Holiday (which is one of my favorite movies). This was the first book I’ve read by Beth O’Leary and it most certainly won’t be the last. I was granted the audiobook version of this and I really think it made the book that much more fun and entertaining. If you haven’t read this book yet, I highly recommend you do!
Thank you Netgalley, Beth O’Leary and Macmillan Audio for the opportunity to read and review this book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I could not listen to the wet mouth sounds the reader continually made.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I loved this book! This book was exactly what I needed right now. First of all, you MUST listen on audio. The two actors that perform protagonists Leena and Eileen are a delight and really bring the story to life. Burnt out Leena is forced to go on two month sabbatical from work in London, and essentially switches lives with her grandmother whose husband recently left her and who wants to look for love beyond her tiny Yorkshire town. Both women are also rediscovering themselves and reconnecting to life after losing their respective sister and granddaughter, Carla, one year ago. This story is sweet, heart-warming, and funny. Give me all the older lady protagonists please!!!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Slow and a little boring and confusing at the beginning, but keep going and it gets such much better! I recommend it for those who like romantic novels with interesting characters.
