About this audiobook

Breaking hearts is what wild and rebellious Mason Kincaid does best. Hit it and quit it is his motto, and with his bad-boy reputation and tattoos, he doesn't lack for female companionship. Until one hot night with the one woman he swore he'd never touch becomes an all-consuming addiction he can't kick. Katrina Sands has been his best friend for years, but now that he knows what she feels like, and tastes like, there is no going back to being just friends. Hot, dirty sex has never felt so good...or so right.

This was a very enjoyable story, sweet and sexy. Although I usually prefer dual narration, I loved Sophie Eastlake's voices for Katrina and Mason.

Not a bad story, but a bit repetitive. But I had a huge problem with the way the h’s rape and attempted rape was handled so glibly by the author. When the rapist attacks her for the second time, they literally let him go saying “just don’t come near her again!” No calling the police. No filing assault charges. Nothing. Just let him go so he can keep raping, and with no record of charges to help the next poor girl he assaults. Also, after having obviously suffered previously from the first rape, the second assault doesn’t set off any ptsd, doesn’t affect her relationship and they just settle in, happy because Mason “believed” her about the assault.

Everything about the way her sexual abuse and assault is handled by this author is offensive. I get the sense that actually addressing the rapist by filing charges was just too messy to contemplate and would interfere with wrapping up the story with a HEA, so the author ignored the real consequences of assault in favor of a tidy little “happy ending”. It pretty much ruined this story for me, unfortunately.

However, the series as a whole is still appealing, and I will read the next in the series.

I was enjoying it until the part where he told her to CRAWL ACROSS THE ROOM ON HER HANDS AND KNEES just to give him a BJ!! Sure he liked to assert his dominance and she was willing but why did he have to degrade her? That’s not sexy!! Carly Phillips never writes like this when she writes on her own, only when she collaborates with Erika Wilde. After that scene I skipped all the “sexy” parts. The book was plenty enjoyable without the kink.
