- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This is my 2nd Poetry book. The writing style reminded me much of the 1st poetry book I read, Milk & Honey by Rupu Kaur. I can't say I'm a total fan of poetry in general, and more specifically this type of poetry, neverthelessI find it quite interesting and will explore more.
In this book Upile speaks about self-love, appreciating your melanin/your blackness, appreciating who you are without apology and loving. She has some nice quotable quotes which I forsee myself using in my writing. See a few of my favourites below
??????
"I am dripping melanin and honey. I am black without apology."
"Here you are, Black and woman and in love with yourself. You are terrifying. They are terrified. (As they should be)."
"Tell me all the stories that start in your smile and end in your eyes."
"I am still teaching my fragile And my strong That they can coexist."

Overall, a nice quick read if you can appreciate this type of poetry, and even if you can't, it's still a nice and easy read.

Soft Magic a.k.a great affirmations for black and other WOC. It’s as soft as it is powerful. A good enough debut. Having read her recent works before reading this, it’s lovely to see how much she has grown as a poet. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Beautiful collection of poems full of positive affirmations for every black girl
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Touching. Healing. Soothing. Magic. Thank you, Upile Chisala! Thank you!
