Very good read with no dull points. I love a book that keeps me engaged throughout the story.

THE DEVIL IS A LIE, is a very entertaining and often humorous novel about a scorned woman (Nina Lawson)who wins the Lottery for millions. As is the way with such a windfall, Nina did many things wrong (I am avoiding spoilers here) that should have alerted her what was to come.

I like the way the author wove in the detail of how her Ex-husband who wasn’t exactly her ex, got half her money. The character’s in this novel are both likable and hated at the same time. Readers will quickly want to mentally slap the stars out PAM who is the most irritating piece of work that you wonder how Todd could have stayed with her.

The author was playing it safe by incorporating some of Nina’s more “ghetto” but humorous family associations and their obvious greed. All of her “fair day” uncles, aunts cousins even her drug addicted mother came to her usually referring to HER windfall as MY, or OUR money. In my opinion she was way too tolerant. Even after Nina found her twin cousins literally trying to burglarize her, she forgave them and gave them thousands

I think what I found a tiny bit disconcerting was the fact that Nina was so careless about her millions with her boyfriend Rick of about a year. Most women I know have a “rainy day” account that their husbands/partners don’t know about. Trust is fine, until it comes to money and when and if someone needs it bad enough, and what they will do to get it.

Anyone who knows me, (as I have mentioned in other reviews) I am the queen of revenge. I ALWAYS want to the bad person to get what’s coming to him/her in spades. In this case the ending of this novel was a little too pat for me; in the fact that Rick did not suffer the way “I” would have wanted him too.

I highly recommend LISTENING to this novel as Narrator Janina Edwards is a gifted orator.

It’s good and entertaining read and I give it four stars ****

I enjoy authors way of weaving the power of forgiveness in relationships to restore and move forward ... Good Sunday afternoon read :)

I like the book overall and would definitely recommend it. However, it was easy to predict the outcome as it was giving off to much clues and Hints too early that this Rick the main character was going to face some real heart break. There really was no big twist to make me jump up and down but what I find intriguing was how money can make ones character comes to light real quick. The book emphasized importance of family and the reason for sticking together when someone of your family gets injured emotionally or physically that you pull together and stand strong for one another. I like that how they connected even when they were very distant. It also shows that money will make you do some desperate things that will destroy your life in reference to the cheating girlfriend who tried to kill the main character and her husband for money because he dumped her for cheating. So in a nutshell if you decide to play the lottery and win please don’t go television or share you news on social media because with that come a plethora of isles you don’t want to deal with. Keep your business quietly to yourself. Also remember to pay attention to clues and hints about those who are in your life that might want to be deceiving you and follow you gut instinct every time.
