Descripción

In an unforgettable love story, a woman's impossible journey through the ages could change everything… Anne Gallagher grew up enchanted by her grandfather's stories of Ireland. Heartbroken at his death, she travels to his childhood home to spread his ashes. There, overcome with memories of the man she adored and consumed by a history she never knew, she is pulled into another time. The Ireland of 1921, teetering on the edge of war, is a dangerous place in which to awaken. But there Anne finds herself, hurt, disoriented, and under the care of Dr. Thomas Smith, guardian to a young boy who is oddly familiar. Mistaken for the boy's long-missing mother, Anne adopts her identity, convinced the woman's disappearance is connected to her own. As tensions rise, Thomas joins the struggle for Ireland's independence and Anne is drawn into the conflict beside him. Caught between history and her heart, she must decide whether she's willing to let go of the life she knew for a love she never thought she'd find. But in the end, is the choice actually hers to make?

Gorgeous, first book I've read by this author, highly recommend. Not usually into time travel books but the narration for this was well done indeed.

Idk what to say. I can't stop crying! It's just so beautiful—the stories, the poems, the song and the love. I've had so much emotions. I don't think I'll ever get tired of Amy's works. So so so good.

Amazing! Surprising! You won’t be able to put it down.

This book is exceptional - so lyrical and poetic. The audiobook version is fantastic with two different actors and all the complicated characters they represent. The story is woven together extremely well and is a great way to get a personal look at Michael Collins and the history of Ireland. So many of the characters were so well developed, it really draws you in. The author did extremely well at capturing the dreams and passions of the Irish for freedom from England and all that cost. I was entranced throughout the book and so sad when it came to an end. Ah - but such a sweet ending! Definitely a great book to add to your list.

Such a beautiful story that takes you to a time and place long ago, but then brings you back to the here and now so perfectly.

Love the story! I’ll probably read it again in a few months. I’m a big Outlander fan, and love thinking about how it would feel to be transported to another time. This tells of a tumultuous time in Irish history and the people who fought for Irish independence. I didn’t expect the ending at all, but I’m thrilled how it ended. Just beautiful!

Absolutely loved it! Listened to the audio version and with appropriate accents it took me away to Ireland. It created visuals of the people, the times and the history of Ireland was intriguing. It really had me thinking about my ancestors and how little I know of their lives, their adventures, emotions, hardships and joys. It’s truly a loss. This is really a lovely story I could hardly stop listening to. Audiobook is the best!

Good story shame about the performance, no excuse for some of the poor pronunciation in this day of the internet.

What the Wind Knows is a love story that spans decades, that lasts over several lifetimes, and that connects Ireland's history to the present. This beautiful country came alive in the author's descriptions, and the narrator's lilting brogue was like a melody.

When I first started this book, I have to admit that I was only reading it to bide time until Scribd made a few much anticipated titles. I soon found myself surprisingly captivated and could not stop reading (listening to the audiobook). The story never has a dull moment, and is full of historically accurate parts that will keep any HF fan on their toes. I loved this book, so much so, that I am seeking out all of her other books just to see what else she can surprise me with.
