About this audiobook

Matt:

Want to know the fastest way to get screwed out of a football career? Get photographed in a compromising position in a gay bar. Yep, welcome to my life.

My agent says he can fix my image. He wants me to become the poster boy for gay football players. Me? I just want back on the field. I'll do anything to play for the NFL again, even pretend to have a steady boyfriend. If only my fake boyfriend wasn't Noah Huntington III-the most arrogant, entitled rich guy in the world.

Noah:

Pretend to be Matt Jackson's boyfriend, my best friend said. It'll be fun, he said. What Damon neglected to mention is Matt is surly and bitter. Being his boyfriend is a job in itself. From his paranoia over being constantly photographed to his aversion to PDA, being with Matt isn't the care-free fake relationship I expected when I signed on to do this.

It's supposed to be a win-win. I get to stick it to my politician dad who thinks no one is good enough for the Huntington name, and Matt's reputation of being the bad boy of football dies.

What I don't expect is to start caring for the guy. That's not part of the plan. Then again, neither is fooling around with him.

Oops.

This story felt much more emotionally harrowing for me than the first one. These heroes took long to make up their minds about becoming a permanent thing I must say.
    Noah
As a person of colour I am so excited to start this book because Noah is African American and has so far been described in Fake Out without any racial elements or stereotypes. Race was merely a descriptor same as any Author would desceive any other character everything else about Noah is unique to him as an individual round character with sn individual personality- I call it a win? already. Yay!!
    We are individuals!
Noah has been hardened by the fact that his college boyfriend agreed to get paid off to ditch him and he no longer trusts thet any relationship could be genuine. This makes him come across as arrogant and distant but deep down inside he is quite empathetic and compassionate. Noah's father is a douche!!
    Matt
Matt was great but he really had a tough break. It was just a lot to contend with. From.being disowned by parebt sho spent his money at the tracks to being alienated from his siblings and to the whole nightclub scandal hectic hey. But he never lost hope he kept working hard and searching for opportunities to play. I am glad his kid brother Jet came to him when he needed help that was a relief.
    The Relationship
The relationship between Noah and Matt is tough to navigate. There are a few onstacles and a lot of past hurts to contend with especially adding Noah's father to the mix but Matt was willing to make it a priority. Noah was too scared to try though- almost right till the end but he at least eventually came to his senses and the result was epic!!
The one thing I did not understand is why Noah's mum was with Noah's dad or didn't make sense- seeing as the marirage was not great and she really had no political or material ambitons ??‍♀️.
It was nice to have Maddox and Damon feature as well.

The narrator who does Noah's voice drove me crazy, in a not good way. I couldn't finish it. So, might have been good, but I just couldn't wait to find out. Got to the 2hr mark.

Gruff attitude, commitment phobic, rich & infamous - what else do you need.
The sparks fly between Matt & Noah from jump, it’s a wild ride while they muddle through interfering parent, personal demons, watchful friends, questionable teammates - all the way trying avoid public scrutiny. Along the way they find the HEA neither dared to dream of.

Great book, one of the best of the series and sets up the others. Matt and Noah are adorably clueless

wanted to read something easy, smutty, fun and light. this was all of that, if not all that well executed. the beginning was very lackluster and i powered through on simple stubbornness. the most disappointing aspect was the smut, which was boring and awkward and somehow inauthentic. the romance was a bit better, but even that wasn't all that convincing. the second half got a bit better and a little more humorous, which is why this is a three star review, in stead of a two star one.

I really enjoyed this! This were definitely some slow spots and some parts of the story struck me a little funny but mostly I had a good time with it.

I read the first book in this series a while ago and I really enjoyed it but I didn't feel the need to immediately read the next book. However, when I was trying to come up with a romance book to read that I was confident I would enjoy, this series came to mind and I'm glad I read this next book. In many ways, it's easier to me to read football sports romance than hockey because I know less about football as an industry so I'm less nit-picky. I think that really helped me with my enjoyment of this story.

I liked the characters of Matt and Noah. I thought that they worked together well though they weren't the most original I would say. That's not usually a problem for me when I read romance so I was still able to enjoy them. I thought the development of their relationship was pretty good though a bit jumpy at certain parts. Without giving too much away, it felt like there were times they should have been on the same page but they weren't just for needless conflict.

I also enjoyed the interaction that both Noah and Matt had with the other people in their lives, whether that be family members or teammates. I don't really want to read about aggressive homophobia too much in my romances because it hits a bit too close to home but I also don't love when authors brush over the issue entirely, especially in MM sports romances when I know that mens professional sports can be incredibly toxic. I thought Finley did a good job discussing the conflict between teammates and family without lingering too much.

This book definitely got me interested in the next couple of books in the series so I will probably pick those up soonish. I'm especially excited for Miller and Talons book. I would recommend this book as a good followup and continuation of book 1.

I love Iggy Toma but I don't think I'm a fan of Alexander Cendese. His voice reminds me too much of the guy who did the THIRDS books, and boy did that man's voice annoy me to hell.

    Story: 3.5
This was a solid romance with great characters. There was drama but it didn't morph into a soap opera (for which I was grateful). All in all an entertaining read.

This was more a sister story than a sequel to the first book in this series. They have many of the same characters, but the main protagonists change. This one flows Noah and Matt. Noah is the biracial son of a rich politician... he's also gay, so of course his father uses his mixed race and sexual orientation as a campaign tactic, which Noah clearly resents. As a way of irritating his father he agrees to be the fake boyfriend of Matt. Matt is a pro football player who was forcefully outted by the tabloid media. He loses his job with his current team on a morality cause, but everyone knows he was because Matt is gay. hHis friend and agent Damon convinces him that he needs to clean up his image and portray himself as someone in a relationship rather than a guy who has random hook-ups at clubs.Matt and Noah struggle to be fake boyfriend, mostly because they are both attracted to one another and it frightens them. What I liked about this book was the backstory for the main characters as well as the struggle. Again, it wasn't overly angsty. There was time to develop the plot and relationship without it being too quick or drag on too long. Very good narration; I felt the characters come through.
