About this audiobook
Sometimes rumor, sometimes based on fact and often misunderstood, the tenets of Islamic law and dogma were not set in the religion's founding moments. They were developed, like in other world religions, over centuries by the clerical class of Muslim scholars.
Misquoting Muhammad takes listeners back in time through Islamic civilization and traces how and why such controversies developed, offering an inside view into how key and controversial aspects of Islam took shape. Misquoting Muhammad lays out how Muslim intellectuals have sought to balance reason and revelation, weigh science and religion, and negotiate the eternal truths of scripture amid shifting values.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A very thoughtful and extremely well-researched book. The writer's prose is elegant and he pinpoints important issues in a fair way that accurately reflects complex realities. An incredibly intelligent work that draws on very many sources.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book opened my eyes to just how little I understood about one of the world’s major religions. I would recommend this book to anyone, but especially those who have a negative image of Islam.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I loved it. Though the narrator lacks when it comes to names and Arabic words but overall it was a great experience listening to this giant of a book.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Excellent book that provides an interesting analysis and explanation of how quotes and other reports of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) were evaluated for authenticity. Unfortunately, many of the Arabic words and names were mispronounced (even the easy ones).
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great work. Insightful research addressing relevant questions about Islam. One of the best books on Islam
