About this audiobook

FROM THE BESTSELLING AUTHOR AND CREATOR OF THE HIT NETFLIX DRAMA THE STRANGER

With unmatched suspense and emotional insight, Harlan Coben explores the big secrets and little lies that can destroy a relationship, a family, and even a town in this powerful new thriller.

Suburban New Jersey Detective Napoleon “Nap” Dumas hasn't been the same since senior year of high school, when his twin brother Leo and Leo’s girlfriend Diana were found dead on the railroad tracks—and Maura, the girl Nap considered the love of his life, broke up with him and disappeared without explanation. For fifteen years, Nap has been searching, both for Maura and for the real reason behind his brother's death. And now, it looks as though he may finally find what he's been looking for.

When Maura's fingerprints turn up in the rental car of a suspected murderer, Nap embarks on a quest for answers that only leads to more questions—about the woman he loved, about the childhood friends he thought he knew, about the abandoned military base near where he grew up, and mostly about Leo and Diana—whose deaths are darker and far more sinister than Nap ever dared imagine.

I almost turned the book off after an hour and a half because I thought the main character was a sociopath and I didn’t feel like listening to a sociopath describe his life to his dead brother. I was wrong...

I simply loved his Myron Bolitar series and was glad for the Myron guest appearance in this story. I found this book to be a thrilling page turner with lots of twists and turns. The characters are well-drawn and I especially loved Nap, the investigator. I found the book to be well-written and the plot was very exciting and believable. I didn't guess the killer until the surprise ending when it was revealed. I look forward to Harlan's next book and I would highly recommend this novel to those who love mystery thrillers.

Well what could have been a great plot was ruined by the somewhat love story. But then it gets worse by a self righteous police officer bringing to justice another police officer but he gets away with his own crimes. Naw I’m not a fan of this style of policing.

It's hard to believe I've never read Coban before, but after watching several foreign language mysteries based on his books I decided to try this one, a stand-alone. It was GREAT! And it was about a section of New Jersey I know, which is always fun.Fifteen years after his twin, Leo, and Leo's girlfriend, are hit by a train, new information about Nap's long-missing high school sweetheart make Nap Dumas look further into what happened that long-ago night. Wonderful detail, interesting characters, lots of red herrings, and an ending I did not see coming, although I'm not very good at guessing, I admit. What a wonderful introduction to someone who has a long backlist to be explored.

New Jersey detective Nap Dumas finds himself involved in a murder that ends up tying to events from his past that involved the death of his twin brother Leo and Leo's girlfriend. Also involved are black sites, nuclear weapons site and the curiosity of teens that ultimately lead to murder and mayhem. This was a fascinating look at how easily things can get out of control when the government seeks to keep its secrets.

This book had one of the best opening lines I have read, "Daisy wore a clingy black dress with a neckline so deep it could tutor philosophy." This may be the last book that I read in 2017 but I enjoyed it. I think this is the first Harlan Coben book that I have read. I will check out more of his novels.

The story was good but what made it more interesting for me was the character Nat Dumas, a detective in suburban New Jersey. He is a real badass who is not afraid to break the rules and ensure justice outside of the law. Decent ending to the book as it tied all the loose ends of the mystery.

Nap Dumas still lives in the town where he was born and where his twin brother died 15 years ago. He has never believed that his brother and his girlfriend, the daughter of the town's police chief, walked into the path of the train.Finding out the truth is one of the reasons why he became a detective himself. But now his own girlfriend of 15 years ago has resurfaced and another policeman has been killed. Why has Maura come back and why are members of the high school Conspiracy Club being killed off?A thriller that keeps you reading to find the truth.

So many of my Harlan Coben books are 5-star rated. This is another one!Don't Let Go is a standalone thriller (however Myron Bolitar makes a far too brief appearance at a pick-up basketball game). Fifteen years ago, Nap Dumas' twin, Leo, was killed when hit by a train. At least that's the theory. Today Nap is a police officer and he has never accepted the official explanation of events. Also killed that night was Leo's girlfriend, Diana. Her father is Nap's boss, friend, and mentor. Nap's girlfriend, Maura, disappeared the same night. Nap has looked for Maura for years but she's never re-appeared. Until the beginning of the book, of course! There are many characters whose stories are told in the past and present. Each character was clearly different so they were easy to keep track of. The story's satisfying outcome was surprising and there were misdirections and twists along the way.

I’ll just stick with Coben’s Myron Bolitar series. Everything else I read of his is just ridiculous.

Don't Let Go is a fast-paced story with big secrets and lies that reach back 15 years. Detective Napoleon "Nap" Dumas' life changed when his twin brother and his girlfriend were found dead and mutilated on the train tracks when they were just 18. In his grief, he bonds with Augie, Diana's father and Ellie, her best friend. Not only did he lose his brother, but his girlfriend Maura also disappeared on the same night. When he received a knock on his door saying that Maura's fingerprints were found at the scene of the killing of a cop, he is pulled into a situation that is hard to believe.

Harlan Coben does a great job revealing clues that give enough information to confuse you just a bit more. With government conspiracy thrown in for good measure and deceit along the way, he pulled me into the story so that I did not want to put it down. Harlan Coben takes a hometown legend (read the author's note at the beginning) and uses it to write this creative thriller. Don't Let Go started off with a bang and the ride carried right through to the end. With likable, yet flawed characters, the relationships remind me of the Myron Bolitar series. They depend on one another, forgive each other and often turn a blind eye to what is happening. A great book that any thriller suspense lover will enjoy. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Edelweiss.

Harlan Coben is one of my favorite authors. This book moved along quickly, but I always had a suspicion as to who was responsible for the crime. Usually Coben's books have a major twist in them, but I didn't feel like this novel had a big twist.
This is a story of Napoleon Dumas (Nap) who is now a police officer. His twin, Leo, died 15 years earlier, and now friends of theirs are dying. Nap is curious, especially since his old girlfriend (Maura)'s prints are found at the scene of a crime in which another of their high school friends is murdered. Nap can't seem to let the events of that night 15 years earlier go, and he keeps pointing to the Nike missile ground in their town.
A solid novel from Coben. Always enjoyable. Writing is always terrific.

Thriller that took me just two days to read. The death of two kids was always presumed to be a horrible accident, but one cop (the twin brother of one of the victims, didn't believe it. His digging leads to a major coverup -- with some surprises among those complicit.

A great thriller that made me guess for a long time how it all happened. Detective Nap Dumas, as a teenager, lost his twin brother and his then girlfriend. His brother was dead and his girlfriend disappeared. Through a murder of a policeman who happened to go to school with Nap, Nap goes in search of all the answers of yesteryear. The answers he finds do not please him.

Compact and intense this search for answers to multiple deaths both 15 years before and it the story's present the keeps twisting through to difficult truths. The abrupt end leaves a few significant questions as to the lead character's future, though the mysteries are dispelled. Good characters and relentless pace.
