      [The Neon Lawyer] is the story of Brigham Theodor, a new lawyer who is hard up for cash and takes a job at a "flea-bag" law office right across the street from a bail bondsman. Most of the book is about his defense of a young mother in a capital case. Since this was a free Kindle read, I was pleasantly surprised!

      Having read several of Methos' books already, I would say this is "Methos-lite". Not as in-depth and intense as the others. Moves a little too fast, and you have to suspend your disbelief. Still entertaining, and hope to see more of the main character someday. Also hope Scribd adds more titles from this very prolific author.

      This is a fulfilling (you can't help getting behind the MC and his case) and interesting book, but the details often didn't seem realistic. I will definitely check out more from this author, and I do recommend this book for someone wanting a good guy/little guy wins type of read.

      Entertaining. However, the story line is not particularly original and lacks credibility.

      Quick enjoyable book. Doesn't look like in 3 years anymore books have come out with main character Brigham Theodore. Too bad. But the other does have some other books. Will check them out. This was a solid story, good characters and plot. Curious about the "based on a true story" going to have to do some research on that one. I say - give it a whirl.

      A fresh-out-of-the-box lawyer takes the only job he can find, one with a rather sleazy law firm, and his second case is for capital murder. And because the murder was done in front of witnesses, it is pretty hard to refute or defend.Despite some implausibility issues, this very short book has the bones of a good story. Unfortunately, that is all there is – bones of a story. The characters are not fleshed out much, there are potential storylines that are not explored, especially the mentions of the Russian mafia, and the story is a bit too predictable.There was a horrible description of child torture which I found hard to read. As so much of the story was glossed over, I do wish this part had been, as well.While this book does have potential, it just didn't live up to that potential.I read this e-book through my Kindle Unlimited membership.

      I think a non-lawyer might be better prepared to suspend disbelief long enough to enjoy this book. But for me, the idea that a fresh-out-of-law school kid is going to end up defending a capital murder case (as his second case ever; his first was in TRAFFIC COURT), just boggled the imagination. Then the kid asks no questions during voir dire (on the crank theory that the jury should be as much of an unknown as possible) and basically ignores jury instructions. The only thing I'd have been willing to believe he was actually doing was seeing his client up with an ineffective assistance of counsel claim, but instead we're supposed to believe he's a baby F. Lee Bailey.
      And let's not even get to the part where the DA is portrayed as being just a hair shy of the devil incarnate.

      I won a free copy of this book in a Goodreads giveaway. I had never heard of Victor Methos before. After a few pages I knew that I liked his writing. The Neon Lawyer tells the story of a woman who killed her daughters killer. Methos delivered a great book and the start of a brand new series. I look forward to the next book in the series as well as checking out a few other books from different series he has written.

      I got a free copy of this book from Netgalley. It was a very quick decent read. The story fits comfortably in the genre of new young lawyer takes on impossible case and wins against all odds, and has new interesting love interest. It's well done with good characters and a compelling legal case. But it's not particularly original or deep. Good book to read in transit or when in need of a quick easy book.
