Descripción

Stephen King's #1 national bestseller about a store where Leland Gaunt can sell you whatever your heart desires-sexual pleasure, wealth, power, or even more precious things-but not without exacting some price in return. "A read in the tradition of The Stand" (Booklist).

Leland Gaunt opens a new shop in Castle Rock called Needful Things. Anyone who enters his store finds the object of his or her lifelong dreams and desires: a prized baseball card, a healing amulet. In addition to a token payment, Gaunt requests that each person perform a little "deed," usually a seemingly innocent prank played on someone else from town. These practical jokes cascade out of control and soon the entire town is doing battle with itself. Only Sheriff Alan Pangborn suspects that Gaunt is behind the population's increasingly violent behavior.

"Fast-paced, well-constructed…cleverly plotted" (The Plain Dealer, Cleveland), Needful Things is often praised as "tremendous…wonderful…one of King's best" (Kirkus Reviews).

Loved this book! I experienced it as an audio book. The only thing about the audiobook is that it had some sound effects hear and there that could get a bit annoying but not so much so I couldn’t enjoy the story.

It’s a breathtaking and mind bending narration by Stephen king. It’s a bit mysterious and scary. He also bolstered the fact of innate greediness and wanting of human beings and to what extent that greediness can take you. Very riveting narration but only for strong hearted.

By far one of his most entrancing, heart wrenching, and beautifully written pieces of work. He actually does a pretty good job narrating this one as well. If you haven't, and you love king like I do, then you need to give this a listen/read.

This is a great book. The entire story is fantastic, the characters are brought to life by King's superb storytelling. I loved every minute of this book.

Good story with a bit of a weak ending for the final showdown. There are definitely some problematic parts for this 2020 listener, but overall it was good. The audiobook would be better without the sound effects.

The book is among my favorites from King, and hearing him read it was excellent in and of itself. Almost loses a star for the ridiculous subchapter midis, though!

interesting, funny, entertaining. The best thing about it is the way Stephen King read it.

The book overall was pretty enthralling. It has a bit of a lull in the middle, but makes up for it with a very intense last third. Stephen King is a wonderful narrator, but the recording is noticably outdated.

Not my favorite King book ever, it dragged a little at times, definitely picked up at the end though.
