      This book didn’t didn’t have a whole lot of substance. And I’m not sure why it held my attention. Maybe because it was short. The audiobook was only 5hrs long.

      We watch Paige land a part on a big movie and essentially get caught in a love triangle. La-di-da. Lol. Among a couple other issues such as proving herself at her new job and juggling long distance friendships. The movie is made after a trilogy and at the end of the book we see her read the third book to ultimately figure out what decision her character makes regarding her own love triangle, and therefore Paige sort of I guess comes to a conclusion about her own. But we have to wait for the next book to figure it out. So of course it made me curious enough because I want to know the answer, SO second book here we come.

      I previously attempted to read this, but I could not get into it. I think it was due to trying to read this so close to watching the show that was made on Freeform. I could not get over the differences. I have been missing the show, so I decided to give this another try.I ended up enjoying this more than I thought I would. I picked it up on audiobook, as I find myself enjoying so many more books in this format. I wish I could get the second book in audio as well.The characters are much younger in the book, and everything that happens is different. But I found myself liking the love triangle. I am excited for the second book and the show.

      I picked up Famous in Love because I wanted something light and fun to read, and it turned out to be exactly that. I really enjoy the famous celebrity story line so I was excited to jump into this one.Paige is an average teen girl who auditions for a movie that is based on a very popular book series called Locked. She gets the role as the main lead and is whisked away to Hawaii to film it. There she ends up falling for the two main boy leads and has to pretty much choose which one she wants to be with.This isn't the perfect story. There were a few things that bothered me as I read. Paige, I believe, is 17 years old. I would have thought that since she's not really considered an adult yet and that she's flying to Hawaii to film this movie, that one of her parents would have come with her or at least visit? But they don't. They just let her go off and be by herself with people she just met. I found that really strange and unbelievable.I also skimmed a lot of the last half of the book, mostly because Paige seems to just tell us everything, rather than show it. So I skimmed a lot of the useless descriptions and details that seemed pointless to me or I just didn't care. I was reading the story for the romance and her being introduced to this world that she has never been in before, but there's really not a lot of that. It's mostly Paige telling us what happened that day on set, and then her being in her condo, or her being on the beach swimming, or her randomly running into Rainer or Jordan so conveniently. I had trouble following the days becasue it seemed like they got a LOT of days off shooting. We rarely get to read about her shooting the movie. It's mostly about her life OFF the set and her relationship with the people shooting the movie.In the prologue, Paige tells us upfront that she made the wrong choice, between Jordan or Rainer. Then we are taken back to when she first auditioned, and then her meeting to two boys and her falling for both of them, etc. I would have really liked to have gone into the book without reading the prologue. Knowing that she 'made the wrong choice' kind of took away the enjoyment of my reading, and made it very obvious of who she chose. I mean, at first I was trying to figure it out and really was clueless, but as I read on it became very obvious, and then my interest dropped immensely because I knew what was going to happen, and I didn't like where it was headed.I won't give away who she chooses, becasue I would say that's the real driving force of the book, but I was shipping her with the other guy SO HARD, and me realizing and knowing that she wasn't going to choose him kind of sucked and took away from it all. Maybe that's what the author wanted, but I wasn't happy. That may also be one reason why I skimmed a ton.I did enjoy this book for the most part. It wasn't terrible and I didn't hate it. I think my feelings towards Paige choosing the wrong guy shows that I was invested in the story. I did enjoy it up until the last 100 pages or so, when I really just wanted to finish the story already. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys celebrity romance stories.

      I am OBSESSED with this story! I wasn't a fan of the narrator though... if you can read it instead of listen to the audio book it may be better.

      Adorably sweet fun tale perfect for the teen set. Just the kind of book my teen self would have loved. Ending made me want to smack heroine upside the head but I am a wise 44 yr old women so take that in stride. A tad unbelievable at times and I didn't buy the love triangle, but again I am a 44 yr old Mom, not written. Will appeal mostly to the teen reluctant reader. Good for that teen, preteen who comes into a bookstore because mom is forcing them to read. Quick paced story with not much character development.

      This is the beginning of a new “meta” trilogy about a wildly popular young adult trilogy and the young teens who star in the movie about the trilogy, and who experience the same sort of triangle as in the book. It’s a clever idea, but while it’s not exceptionally well done, it has some winning qualities.Paige Townsen is just a “normal” girl in Portland, Oregon who loves acting, and goes to a casting call for the movie being made out of the “Locked” series. To her amazement, she gets the part, and the next thing she knows, she is on a film set in Hawaii.Although prior to this, Paige never even had a boyfriend, and only ever had one kiss from one of her BFFs, Jake (Paige, Cassandra, and Jake have always been a trio of BFFs), Paige is suddenly identified as not only “beautiful,” but hot, hot, hot, and she attracts the interest of both male leads. She has to make a decision, and when she does, it’s a surprising one.Discussion: The author nicely shows the “real world” of what it’s like to make a movie, beneath the glamour and the tabloids. The writing isn’t the best, however. For example, when Paige is with either boy, she often “breathes” whatever it is she is saying (e.g., ‘They’re beautiful,’ I breathe”). The prose can be simultaneously trite and overwrought, as when, kissing a character, Paige can feel “the hard muscles of his abs” and “the frenzied beat of his heart.” And sometimes the writing is just bizarre (e.g., “Then he pushes me back gently, cups his hand to the side of my head, and tucks my hair behind my cheek.” Behind my CHEEK? Sounds very painful….) Or how about when one of the boys “untucks my chair” in the restaurant. In addition, there are many metaphors. Some work, but some seem a bit of stretch: “…I can still see his scar working its way down his jaw to the back of his neck like a hiker on a mountain trail.” Instalove, also a common YA trope, runs rampant in this book, and you’ll have a difficult time not picturing Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner as you read.Some of the plot developments don’t ring true to me, such as the fact that Paige’s family, sorely in need of money, refuses to take anything from Paige, even while she flies her BFFs to her film set and premiers. And when the filming is over, Paige, now very flush with money, rabid fans, and acting offers, tries to go back to her old job as a cashier at a local trinket shop. Really?Nevertheless, whereas I may have criticisms about the writing, I can see my 14-year-old niece, who dreams of somehow meeting one of the One Direction boys, or getting to share screen kisses with the likes of hot vampires and werewolves, absolutely loving this book.
