About this audiobook

After Celia Wird and her sisters help master vampire Misha save his family, their powers are exposed to the supernatural community of the Lake Tahoe region. But fame comes at a price, and being "weird" isn't always welcome.

To make matters worse, Celia desires the love of Alpha werewolf Aric, but his pack is bent on destroying their relationship to preserve his pureblood status. And once weres start turning up dead-with evidence pointing to the vampires-she must face the prospect of losing Aric forever. But the chaos only masks a new threat. An evil known as the Tribe has risen-and their sights are set on Celia and her sisters.

Review courtesy of Dark Faerie Tales.Quick & Dirty: Just when they think life has settled down, the Wird sisters discover a dead wereraccoon on their doorstep. Life just keeps getting stranger…Opening Sentence: A dead wereraccoon on your doorstep is no way to start the morning. The Review:This is the second book in Cecy Robson’s Weird Girls series. I read the first book just prior to reading this second installment and felt that the good and bad things balanced each other out. I felt the same way about this installment until I made it to about the 70 percent mark. After that, I spent the rest of the book with either my heart pounding from the action or a lump in my throat from the emotional drama that was occurring. I couldn’t put the book down and finished it wanting more. It’s been a week since the events of the first book wrapped up. Celia and her sisters were hoping life would settle down so they could spend some quality time with Aric and his warriors. Unfortunately, someone out there has other plans for them. A dead wereraccoon shows up on the girls’ doorstep with a picture of Celia in his possession. In addition to that, couples are disappearing, with the men later being found slaughtered while the women remain missing. Dark forces are at work here, and while the wolves don’t want the sisters to get involved, someone (or something) out there is making it clear that they are a target. If that’s not bad enough, Aric’s Elders do not approve of Celia, as she is not a were. Will their relationship be able to survive this hurdle? Will they be able to find whoever’s behind the killings and disappearances before it’s too late?I really grew to love Celia in this book. She’s equal parts tough and weak, which in the first book, I found annoying sometimes, but here, it began to feel like a very realistic portrayal of someone who is part hunter, part human. I love how her tough side really comes out whenever her sisters are threatened. As I’m someone who is incredibly close to her family, this character trait really helped me connect to Celia. When it comes to the love triangle, I’m a little torn. I like Aric (who we’re obviously supposed to be rooting for), but I hate how hot and cold he can be. I understand that he feels torn between Celia and pack duties, but I want him to be more open with Celia about his feelings. That being said, there were some beautiful moments between Celia and Aric in this book. The other point on the triangle is Misha. Now, maybe I’m just a vampire girl at heart, but I just love him. There’s something about his personality that just makes me smile. There’s also something to be said for the fact that he always comes when Celia needs help, and he will take her out for ice cream when she’s upset. What’s not to love about that? The secondary characters are great as well. Each of the sisters and wolves has their own personality traits that make them unique. I actually wish we could have some scenes from the other sisters’ points of view. One negative thing for me is how the passage of time is handled. One chapter will end, and then the next will start weeks or months later. This would disrupt the flow of the book for me, and it would take a couple of pages for me to get re-acclimated to what was going on. Another thing I should mention (while not a negative for me) is that Cecy Robson does not cringe away from giving all the grisly details of a fight. If it’s hard for you to read gory scenes, this might not be the book for you.All in all, this ended up being a great follow up to Sealed with a Curse. When I finished that book, I was rather lukewarm on the series. By the time I finished this one, I was completely invested. I am eagerly looking forward to book 3!Notable Scene:Shayna fell into the sofa. Her droopy ponytail matched her mood. She wasn’t herself when Koda had to leave her to hunt. “Can I drive us to work today?”“No,” the rest of us answered.I didn’t care at that moment how depressed she appeared. Shayna wasn’t allowed to drive us anywhere. Ever. If we had somehow slipped into comas and a tribe of cannibalistic pigmies were about to sacrifice us to their volcanic god, and Shayna behind the wheel was our only escape? I’d take my chances with the lava.FTC Advisory: Signet/Penguin provided me with a copy of A Cursed Embrace. No goody bags, sponsorships, “material connections,” or bribes were exchanged for my review.

3 stars *only* because I'm not in any way a fan of demons in my stories. They're just too one-dimensional for me to be interested in, but they make good adversaries, I guess.

This book is quite a bit darker (see demons, above) than the first book, but it kept me riveted because of the characters. The sisters are that perfect dynamic - each with their own *very* unique personality and gift and their wolves, the same (I think Koda is my favorite). I can't say I really much cared for the ending although, way to stop my heart re; Shayna!!! VERY well done!, although I knew a conflict of some kind was coming. The author has set it up in a way that if feels like a happy ending of some kind is inevitable, and that's what will keep me reading. Don't get me wrong, I'm loving Misha - his name, his looks, his attitude - and I'm looking forward to seeing how the dynamic between Celia and Misha plays out.

Thankfully, the next book will be out in just 7 months or so, and I'm looking forward to reading it.

Where to start, where to start ...What happens when an Alpha werewolf is forced to choose between the woman he loves and his race that is dying out? A WHOLE lot of hurt, betrayal and hasty decisions. The characters of this series keep me coming back for more. I really love Celia and her sisters. They are so fun and quirky. They each have their own personalities and are so different from each other, but are still so close and supportive of each other. Aric is strong alpha male. His group of weres are all protective and easy to like. Misha is still trying to win Celia over. He is there at every turn trying to seduce her and steal her away from Aric. Each and every one of them grow and change in A CURSED EMBRACE in some way. While Celia's sisters are enjoying their new-found love Celia's world is falling down around her. There is a lot of joy and an equal amount of pain. Aric's pack (besides the guys we know and love) are a bunch of ass hats. That is the best way I can describe them. There were many points that I wanted to jump into the pages and beat them over the head. The storyline for book 2 is pretty dark and sometimes creepy. There are demon babies clawing their selves out of human tummies. Fair warning! There are a lot of situations that you just are not sure who will survive and who will be lost. The action is crazy, the situations leave you shocked and the choices will have you screaming at characters to open their eyes. The ending you ask? I don't even know what to say. I am heartbroken, I understand Celia's decision, I want to punch a certain alpha, I want to cry. Where is book 3? If you are an emotional reader A CURSED EMBRACE will leave you in tears at many points so keep the tissues handy.
