She also plans to investigate Ben’s disappearance at sea. Everyone blames a surfing accident, but Amy has reason to wonder.

Coast Guard officer Curtis Ireland has lost a sibling too. His sister, Gina, was run down by a boat, leaving him to raise her infant daughter. Yet he can’t help being drawn to Hope Beach’s new midwife, Amy, and he agrees to help her investigate what happened to both Ben and Gina.

So happy that I pursued reading book two in the Hope Beach series even though book one was not among my favorite Coble books. She was back in full swing with this book, hitting it out of the park. (Or should I say off the beach?) Murder, drugs, kidnapping, secrets and lies, with a touch of romance; believable dialogue, relationships that ring true, and settings the reader could walk into, true Coble. Why was it so hard to be herself, to be transparent? When she went to church, she put on a smile and never let anyone see her heartache. She was always “fine.” It wasn’t just here either. All around her she heard people asking, “How are you?” and others answering, “Fine.” They all wore masks. Amy Lange had been raised to suppress bad feelings, to put on a smile and look on the sunny side. That describes the outlook in many in our churches today, some taught by parents, others through life’s circumstances. Our masks come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but most have lips curved up at the edges; masks, like Amy’s, hiding feelings, and secrets. Coast Guard officer, Curtis Ireland, has secrets of his own. Secrets, when revealed, that might cost him the guardianship of his orphaned niece. Then there are also the secrets of those no longer among the living, secrets carried to the grave by Amy’s brother and Curtis’ sister, life changing and life ending secrets. Amy and Curtis must join forces to solve the mystery of their siblings’ deaths, and to learn how to open their hearts. I highly recommend this book to both lovers of mystery and romance. While it would make a great summer beach read, it would also be a great curl up by the fire read. Whenever and wherever you decide to read Rosemary Cottage, it’s a guaranteed good time. While characters from book one in the series reappear in book two, it will work well as a stand- alone read. So, here’s to happy reading!

Title: Rosemary Cottage (The Hope Beach Series #2)Author: Colleen CoblePages: 328Year: 2013Publisher: Thomas NelsonMy rating: 5 out of 5 stars. What an exciting read! Colleen Coble shares a tale of redemption, hope, faith, love and healing in the second installment of the Hope Beach series. One of the main characters is Amy Lang who follows her heart and trains to be a midwife in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Many summers she has spent surfing, swimming and playing with her brother, Ben, when they were children, staying at Rosemary Cottage.Recently, Amy lost her brother Ben and returns to the beach to heal and find out the truth of what really happened to her brother. Amy wouldn’t have questioned what happened to Ben if not for an email she was sent that cryptically hinted that something else may have happened to him. Curtis Ireland is a Coastie and also a resident of the outer banks, and he has a secret that might just change Amy’s future. In a thrilling story, audiences will journey to the truth that at first doesn’t appear to set people free from the secrets that bind their hearts. As I turned the pages, I enjoyed how Colleen reveals the intricate personalities of her characters, the back story, and how one life touches another for good or ill. The thread of faith runs throughout the novel, and it pulls in the reader from the first page until the very last. I loved how secrets that find the light of truth can lead to healing, hope, sometimes pain but in the end all can be made well.I look forward to reading the last book in the series Seagrass Pier. I did find it helpful to read the first book in the series, Tidewater Inn. Enjoy!Note: The opinions shared in this review are solely my responsibility.

This author has just the right touch of mystery, intrigue, danger and romance! She keeps you guessing and wondering what will happen next. This is a story of two grieving people who will help each other find answers to the death of their loved ones.Amy Lange is mourning her brother Ben, who died while surfing around the Outer Banks She has decided to move back to the seaside community of Hope Beach and try to figure out how and why her brother has died. Coast Guard officer Curtis Ireland has lost his sister, Gina in a boating accident, leaving him to raise her infant daughter, Raine. Both of these "accidents" need further investigation and when Amy starts to dig deeper into what happened they both will uncover deadly secrets. Who is Raine's real father? Curtis thinks he knows, but will sharing what he knows cause him to lose this little girl.I found myself surprised by a few things that happened during this story. But I very much enjoyed the spark between Curtis and Amy and watching them work together to solve this mystery. This could easily be read as a stand alone story, but it is book two in the Hope Beach series, and if you read book one first, ("Tidewater Inn"), you will get to see them in this story also.

Mysterious deaths, a child in peril, and a budding romance fuel the suspense in this action packed novel. A midwife named Amy comes to her family's island cottage to heal and to find answers after the death of her brother. Meanwhile, Curtis is desperate to keep the parentage of Rain, his orphaned niece, a secret--because he is afraid her birth family will try to take her away from him. So he is not too pleased to see that Amy has returned to the island--since her brother was Rain's father. He tries to keep is secret, but Amy's persistent digging into the circumstances of her brother's death and his instant attraction to her make that hard. Many twists and turns follow. This book is a good "beach read". It's not one to think too hard about (some of the plot twists are pretty unrealistic) but the danger level does keep your interest.

This book can be something. I got really into it. I love the fact the Mystery goes though the entire book and you do not figure it out until towards the end. Though you do not until the very end of the book. This book really keep me interested and it made me really want to find out what happen to Ben Lang. I also wanted to find out how Gina had died. It really a good book more mystery then romance. Though you see the friendship that goes though. It also talks about Amy Lang and her struggles as well.

Another well written book by Colleen Coble. I always enjoy her books, but this one was a little more difficult for me to get into. The characters were drawn out and flawed, which is a good thing, but I had difficulty in connecting with the main character, Amy. There really were times when I kind of wanted to smack her for naivety (someone indicates her brother's death may not have been accidental and she automatically opens her house to a person she's never met before? And then, when she catches that person snooping, she believes the lie she's fed? Hmm. One eyebrow is raised.)and her bullheadedness which, in my opinion, bordered on total disregard for Curtis's & Edith's feelings.

Amy, a naturally optimistic person, has a hard time being transparent with Curtis - a man who becomes more than just a passing fancy for her. At the beginning, the romance felt stiff and pressured as it seemed they were always accusing the other's sibling of dubious deeds and neither were willing to believe that their own sibling wasn't perfect and having flaws. One thing that I very much enjoyed about this book, was the natural way Amy approached life. Using herbs and tinctures, etc, I found those parts extremely interesting and actually think a little more would have been awesome. I love stuff like that and was thrilled to see it take a major role in this book. If you like plot twists and turns, and don't like being able to figure out an entire ending, this book will deliver and I found myself doing the 'argh! I didn't see that one coming!' at the end.

This was a good book that I would recommend to lover's of Christian fiction. This book isn't overtly Christian, and some non-Christian fiction readers would find it enjoyable as well.

"Rosemary Cottage" by Colleen Coble is a sweet book. From the minute I started the book I didn't want to put it down and I can't say why. There was just something about this book that kept me reading right through to the end of it. I love the mystery that is going on through the book and I hoped the Amy and Curtis would end up together in the end because they seemed like such a sweet couple. I am not going to give away the ending but this was a great book and if you are looking for a fun mystery/romance you will love this one!

I found the story enjoyable, the romance was interesting but the mystery behind the murder wasn't quite as believable. At least not at first....It's not a "fast" moving story but very interesting and it will keep you wondering till the end.I found the story a little slow but once I got about 2/3's of the way into the book the author really pushed the intrigue and mystery up a few notches. The ending totally surprised me and I loved how the romance ended. If you need a rainy day or book to read in front of the fire in the winter this little book will keep you busy for a few hours. Add it to your kindle to read when you have a spare moment or two to read.

Or will their quest for truth set them at odds with each other…and with those who will go to any length to keep hidden things hidden?Book Review: The mystery was a lingering scent in every aspect of the book. I liked the lead characters although sometimes Amy was a little annoying at points but overall enjoyable. Curtis was a little judgmental about Ben when his sister too had a history, but no more so than anyone would be. I liked Edith and the sheriff along with the main characters to Tidewater Inn. It was a great continuation although there was no need to read the other book to be able to enjoy this book. The cover picture is what really drew me to this book and the inside of the book made it worthwhile by itself. I read this with some putting it down because of the intensity of the story. I am now hopeful to visit these characters again in the next book. It was a wild ride in the last 3rd of the book but what a fun and suspenseful one at that. I would like to thank Net Galley and Thomas Nelson Publishing for allowing me to read and review this book in return for a free copy and I was never asked to write a favorable review by anyone.

This book opens with the killing of single mom Gina Ireland by a man in a boat and from there the suspense just keeps on going to the very end. Gina’s brother Curtis is a USCG search and rescue team member living on Hope Island and raising Raine, Gina’s daughter. He and his aunt Edith have been doing as well as can be expected and settling into their new life when Amy Lang returns to the island.Amy is also mourning a sibling, her brother Ben who drowned a few months before on the island. Amy has come to the island to look into the circumstances of Ben’s death after getting a mysterious email. Amy and Curtis know each other and are mutually attracted. Amy has no idea that Ben is the father of Raine and is stunned when she finds out. Both Amy and Curtis find themselves enmeshed in a mystery around the circumstances of Raine’s birth and the deaths of their siblings. Their budding romance hits a lot of stumbling blocks related to the complicated relationship of Gina and Ben and the consequences of their actions. There is romance, mystery, family drama, all kinds of interesting things happening at a very fast pace throughout the book. I started reading and didn’t stop until I was finished with the book. This is my first book by this author and I wondered if there had been a previous book in the series. There is one titled Tidewater Inn which I am going to have to read. This book also sets up a possible future book with two of Curtis’ fellow USCG team members which looks like it would be pretty good.

Rosemary Cottage by Colleen CobleFirst I wanted to read this because of the author, I've read many of her novels and they are just great. This one spoke to me because I've not traveled to the Outer Banks yetbut love the movies I've seen of it. Very detailed descriptions of the water and seashore make me wish I was there now-so calming.Amy is there to find out what happened to her brother Ben. In November he had been surfing and those in the room to help her with missing details told her of what they each knew.Curtis has a few secrets about the event and he's lost his sister also, and he's left to raise her child, Raine.Dara is in town for the senator's campaign and she has questions of her own about the deaths-she might have some more clues as well.Bit confusing at first with all the characters-keeping them straight but after a while you get a handle on things and the events..Heather is there as a spy and as the story goes along we find out what her motive is...So many clues to go through and I love the prayer journal-never knew of them. Tenses rise when things heat up: Custody, drugs and love...Finding religion had saved Gina's life one time.Loved reading about the bank horses and the food is to die for! Loved hearing about the herbs.Good story line, adventure, love, food and travel and love all mixed in.I received this book from Thomas Nelson via Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion

Rosemary Cottage is a charming place to be on Hope Island. Amy Lang has a lot of happy memories there with her family (especially her brother Ben). Now, however, Amy has come there to grieve the loss of Ben but also to find out what really happened to him. She’s also considering moving her midwife practice to the Island. Curtis Ireland works for the Coast Guard and is grieving the loss of his sister while raising her daughter, Raine. Amy and Curtis are drawn to each other but each has secrets. Will their secrets drive them apart when revealed? As they investigate and dig further into the truth about the death of their siblings, they find they’ve opened Pandora ’s Box. Sometimes the truth can hurt, or even kill. This is one of those stories that once you pick it up it’s hard to put down. It’s loaded with twists and turns that take you down unexpected paths, which is always a treat. I enjoyed getting to know Amy and Curtis. Both are loyal and faith-driven people who care deeply about others. If you’ve read Tidewater Inn, (book 1 in the Hope Beach Series) you’ll be happy to know that Alec and Libby are very much a part of this story. It was fun catching up with them. You’ll find danger, suspense, romance and an ending that was both expected and unexpected. I think this author did a great job of showing the effects of sin and greed in a person’s life but also how God can change a heart. But unfortunately, though a heart is changed, there are still consequences to our behavior. If you enjoy a good romantic suspense then head on over to Hope Island. If you’ve never visited there before I recommend you start with Tidewater Inn, followed by a visit to Rosemary Cottage.*This complimentary copy was provided by Thomas Nelson through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*Publisher: Thomas Nelson (July 9, 2013)Language: EnglishISBN-101595547827ISBN-13978-1595547828
