Jeffrey Archer's "Shall We Tell the President?" fascinated me with its face-paced and suspenseful plot. Florentyna Kane is elected the first female President of the United States. On March 3, 2 years later, the FBI learn of a plot to kill her. 2 hours later, 4 of the 5 people who know the details are dead. FBI Agent Mark Andrews is the only person remaining who knows when. His goal is to find out which Senator is involved in the assassination. A subplot revolves around Mark's love interest, who has relevance to the main plot, as her father is one of the suspected Senators. The story takes place in Washington D.C. , from March 3 to March 11. The year hasn't been specified. They showed several well-known buildings of Washington, like the Library of Congress, and the Capitol. It was obvious that the story was set at Washington D.C. since it's the capital, and it's where the President lives. Throughout the story, the chapters were shown as the time the chapter starts, so it's easy to tell when the story took place.Throughout the story, Archer makes sure he doesn't reveal anything until the end. Even the Senator was only referred to as "the Senator" until Mark finds out who he is.I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a suspenseful book, although it deals with some mature themes. The plot picks up really quickly and stays throughout the entire book.

It is one among a thousand such plots that the FBI hear about that year, but within a few hours, four out of the five people with knowledge about it are dead. The fifth, FBI agent Marc Andrews, attempts to uncover the plot and save the President.In many senses this is a typical run of the mill thriller novel, set in America, where there is an act of terrorism in the offing that the authorities try to avoid, in this case the assassination of the President. However it is well written, and I found the overall plot quite intriguing.
