Descripción

She was ready to let her heart run wild . . .

Merry Stewart has had enough! Enough of her brothers, whose behavior would make even the most improper lady blush. Enough of their Highland home, which would surely have fallen to ruin were it not for her. She dreams of escaping into the arms of her betrothed, Alexander d'Aumesbery-even though they haven't yet met. But when they do, Merry is devastated. It seems he's no better than the men in her family.

So beautiful, so brazen . . . From the moment he meets Merry, Alexander is determined to make her his. Desperate to convince her he's nothing like the members of her roguish clan, he will prove he is every bit the well-mannered gentleman. Yet, beneath it all beats a heart as intense and uncontrollable as hers. And finally, when his life is threatened, Merry realizes he's the husband she's been waiting for . . . and their passion becomes the one thing that cannot be tamed.

As usual lovely story. Had the danger, romance and villain. The villain was obvious, and not just because I had read about the devil of the highlands but because of the voice used whenever the villain spoke ?.
I enjoyed it as I do most of Sands book.

Ohh the poor man, LS must really not like him though, her portrayal of him is of a brilliant man as she puts him through the ringer. This book is slow to start but the story gets better as the book progress, both Alex and Merry are great characters and the mention of the two main characters from the first book is a nice touch. Again can only give it 4 stars as really cannot stand this narrator, sadly finds her quite boring though will have to listen to her again in the last book of this series.

I usually enjoy Lynsay Sands books, and this was no exception. While still entertaining, a lot of the humor was derived from slapstick situations. By the end I was thinking there was no way this man would survive if he got hit in the head and knocked unconscious one more time.Overall, this was a fun summer read.

I only just discovered Sands' historicals last year. I didn't realize she wrote medievals, only historicals. Since then I've found her novels to be quick, light reads. While this was more of the same, I wasn't quite as satisfied with it.

I think many of the actions of the heroine were supposed to be kind of cutesy but they were kind of dry instead. I wasn't laughing or smiling over her antics as much as I have in the past. I'm not sure if it was my mood while reading or a reflection of the book but there you go. I think the problem might have been that they just went on too long. There were a ton of instances where she had to be clever and find solutions to problems (carting her husband around after he'd been bashed in the head or drugged) and that didn't leave a lot of time for the romance.

Still, it was readable and I enjoyed the main story. I'm also looking forward to the next book.

    Taming the Highland Bride
    3 Stars

After caring for her drunken father and brothers, Merry Stewart is only too happy to learn that she will be traveling to England to marry her betrothed. Unfortunately, upon her arrival it seems that she has gone from the frying pan into the fire as her fiancé is as inebriated as her family. It soon turns out that Alex is not the drunken sot he appears and that someone if determined not only to cause strife between the married couple but to remove Alex from the equation altogether.

A sweet romance with likable characters. Alex is patient, loyal and understanding although for a supposedly seasoned warrior, he is constantly being knocked unconscious. Merry is charming and not nearly as shrewish as the title implies. She is also a resourceful woman and manages to save Alex more often than not. On a side note, the wedding night scene is reminiscent of that in Amanda Quick’s Seduction but not as cleverly executed.

The mystery has potential but there are too many contrived situations and the villain is obvious. Moreover, Sands has an irritating tendency to set up a particular plot point and then have it drag on for a while before it is resolved.

In sum, a light and easy read but nothing all that special.

I really enjoyed this book! Both the H&H were kind, hard working, likable people. Watching their relationship grow into love was sweet. There was a lot of interaction and dialogue between the two characters which I found very interesting. It was a very sweet romance novel.

Merry Stewart has the reputation of a shrew, so her betrothed Alexander d'Aumesbery is not in a hurry to claim her as his bride after his return from the crusades. Merry's alchoholic father and brothers have other ideas so they take he to her husband and on first impressions she see her husband likes his drink just like her family does so she thinks she in for a similar life - how wrong could she be?I did ver much enjoy thist story of Merry and Alex.
