Sobre el autor

H. A. Rey (1898–1977) was born in Hamburg, Germany, near the world-famous Hagenbeck Zoo, and developed a lifelong love for animals and drawing. He and his wife, Margret (1906–1996), who studied art at the acclaimed Bauhaus school, had many pets—including two marmoset monkeys that joined them on one of their steamship journeys across the Atlantic. Hans and Margret’s world-famous curious monkey first appeared in a manuscript strapped to their bicycles as they fled wartime Paris for the safety of the United States. Committed philanthropists in their own lives, a portion of proceeds from each Curious George book sold flows to the Curious George Foundation, which funds programs for children that encourage inquisitiveness in learning and exploring. Curious George has been successfully adapted into a major motion picture and an Emmy-winning television show on PBS.www.curiousgeorge.com.

A very convoluted story about a bike. Curious George is the ultimate distracted child.

My 5 yo niece just listened and says...

I like it. And five stars.

Curious George is a favorite in our house. Good narrator on this recording. Nice that it gives the option in second half (“track 2” on original disc) to follow along without the page turning signals.

2 Now the moment had come to launch the boat3 around 1270 words4 25 minutes

It's basically Curious George's greatest hits on the theme of "riding": the time he rode his bike at the circus, the time he flew away holding onto balloons and was saved by the Man in the Yellow Hat in his helicopter, etc. Real kid-friendly shit.

Curious George Rides a Bike is a great book in Children's Literature. It provides realistic scenarios that happen to all of us. George is given instructions and disobeys them. He then must face the consequence of not listening. Feeling sad, George witnesses a troubling event and decides to help save the day. He made himself feel better and others were no longer mad at him for the bad things he had done. Children can use these examples and apply them to real life, which is always a good thing. Highly recommended.

George learns how to ride a bike and joins a newspaper boy handing out papers. He turns the newspapers into boats and sails them up a stream. George damages his front tire and workers of a show help him. He was invited to be in the show riding a bike playing the bugle. His bugle gets stuck in an ostrich throat and he gets kicked out the show, but he saves a baby bear. George is re-invited into the show and becomes a great success.

Genre: FictionMedia: Chalk and Charcoal Review: This is a great book of fiction. Not only is Curious George an already well known character, but this particular story is very inventive and it captures you. The situations George gets himself into and so unlikely that it fores you to believe they are true.

As a child I loved the Curious George books, but when I read Curious George Rides a Bike I was disappointed. I still love the illustrations and the actual story, but I thought the plot was not appropriate for today’s children. George gets a bicycle from the man in the yellow hat, and rides off on his own without a helmet! He meets strangers and gets in a lot of trouble, but eventually saves the day. If I had a child, I would want to be reminding them to wear a helmet, not talk to strangers, and not to leave the house without an adult. Overall, the language and writing is engaging and flows well, but the plot worries me in today’s society. The illustrations are really fun and enjoyable to look at because the style fits the mood. I enjoyed the part where George uses newspaper to create a boat. For example, “First he folded down the corners, like this” and then there is a “how-to” page to create your own boat! The message of this book is curiosity and bravery.

Curious George gets a bike from the man with a yellow hat. He is told to stay close to the house but becomes curious and roams away. A newspaper boy asks for George’s help and George becomes distracted by a nearby pond. He ends up in a circus.

A typical George tale of hilarious (to a two-year old) scrapes and misadventures.
