About this audiobook
*NOW A HIT TV SERIES ON DISNEY JUNIOR*
Fans of Fancy Nancy and weddings alike will laugh along with Nancy as she discovers how truly special a wedding can be—whether lavish or, as this one turns out to be, more down to earth.
No one is more excited than Nancy when word of her uncle’s wedding plans spreads. Nancy has visions of a trés magnifique wedding fit for a royal princess—with Nancy serving as a flower girl. But when Nancy finds out that the wedding will be held at a lakeside cabin at dawn and that there won’t be a traditional flower girl, she’s beyond disappointed.
But in the end Nancy is able to add a touch of fancy to the festivities and appreciate the special joys of loved ones gathering to celebrate a wedding (especially when she learns that pancakes will be served at the reception!).
Fancy Nancy's wisdom and creativity shine through to spark the joy of imagination in young readers.
Perfect for fans of the Eloise and Olivia books. From the dazzling New York Times bestselling duo Jane O’Connor and Robin Preiss Glasser.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5It is always wonderful to read these books. Cute books with great vocabulary.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5When Nancy learns that her Uncle Cal is getting married, she is quite excited, envisioning the fanciest wedding possible. When she discovers that her uncle wants a non-traditional ceremony, one held on the beach rather than in a fancy church, she is dismayed. But then she meets her soon-to-be Aunt Dawn, and has a fabulous time at the pre-party, the wedding itself, and the wedding breakfast. It turns out that fanciness isn't the only thing needed to make a wonderful wedding...The fifteenth picture-book featuring the eponymous Fancy Nancy, Fancy Nancy and the Wedding of the Century pairs another engaging tale from author Jane O'Connor, one in which Nancy must balance her love of fancy things with her love of family, with cute and colorful artwork by Robin Preiss Glasser. I'm really quite impressed that I continue to enjoy these later Fancy Nancy titles, as I sometimes find, with longer picture-book series, that later entries aren't as appealing as earlier ones, and start to feel somewhat formulaic. Not so here, as the narrative, while it does fall into the general pattern for these books - Nancy has certain fancy expectations, finds that reality is slightly different, but manages to adjust all the same - still manages to feel fresh. Recommended to all Fancy Nancy fans, and to anyone looking for children's books about weddings, where the main character is not a flower girl or ring bearer, but 'just' an attendee.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/513.I personally enjoyed reading “Fancy Nancy and the Wedding of the Century” by Jane O’Connor, but I would be hesitant to have this story in my classroom. I loved the illustrations in this book! They were very detailed, girly and, in my opinion, strongly influenced the reader’s understanding of the protagonist, Nancy’s personality. I liked that O’Connor chose to write the book in first person from Nancy’s perspective. In my opinion, her choice to do this allows readers to get to know Nancy’s personality in a way that they would not if this book were written from a different point of view. This book, however, would most likely not be interesting to young boys and could also be potentially inappropriate to read to some students, as it may make students who are not as financially well off as Nancy feel considerably disheartened. For those reasons, I would need to be very cautious and well informed of the socioeconomic status of all of my students before adding this book to my classroom library. The message the author is sending to the reader is that not everything in life has to be fancy to be special, however the manner in which the author develops that message does not sufficiently take into consideration that not everything has to cost a lot of money to be special. The wedding Nancy envisioned was much more deluxe and lavish than her uncle’s wedding actually was, however, the illustrations of her the wedding indicated that it still was a very expensive wedding.
