HOW TO HANDLE convulsions and seizures

According to The Illustrated South African First Aid Manual, (Struik Lifestyle), convulsions and seizures can be brought on by a variety of causes, including:

High fever

Stroke

Dehydration

Poisoning

Oxygen deprivation Epilepsy

Meningitis

Brain injury

Brain tumours

A seizure or convulsion happens when the electrical patterns of activity in the brain are disrupted, leading to changes in the level of consciousness, movement and sensation of the person affected.
