Cuando ves fotos de Alsacia, piensas que son paisajes idílicos, bellos, y que se respira un aire de tranquilidad que en una ciudad cosmopolita como en la que yo vivo es imposible de tener. Pues ciertamente, así es. En los 7 días que tuve el placer de viajar hasta esta zona vitivinícola, me “empapé” de dicha tranquilidad y del ritmo relajado de los habitantes de las diferentes poblaciones que visité con mi familia.

Since the trip from my home city to our destination was long (over 10 hours’ drive, including breaks), we decided to stop over in Lyon, which is situated about four hours’ drive from our final destination. We arrived in the middle of the afternoon and after leaving our luggage at the Hotel Mercure Lyon Centre Saxe Lafayette (4*, a bit outside the main centre, but very practical, clean and offering all the services you’d want for a one-night stay), we headed for the city's historical centre. There, we walked around the city's old quarter, visited the cathedral, and soaked up the city’s atmosphere. For dinner, we had made a reservation at a typical Lyonnais restaurant, one of the so-called “bouchons lyonnais”, Daniel & Denise, with cuisine by chef Joseph Viola. It’s a small restaurant (just a dozen tables) located in a semi-residential neighbourhood up on one of the city’s hills. There, we enjoyed a perfectly-prepared dinner as well as some excellent wine from the Rhône Valley (Aléofane Crozes Hermitage 2016), which was suggested by the restaurant’s sommelier.
