CAPTURING WILDLIFE MOVEMENT

Often this is due to bad lighting. When dealing with moving subjects or simply movement in general, even higher shutter speeds are necessary to stop or freeze the motion to make sure the subject is in sharp focus ie does not blur.

With careful use of camera settings, focus modes and good technique, it is possible to capture fast moving subjects or scenes with movement, without resulting in image blur.

The isolated Kahurangi coast is a pretty special place – remote, untouched, rugged yet beautiful. It’s a fantastic place to spend time working for several weeks each year. During one trip we took a few days off work to explore the country around the Kahurangi lighthouse. The old light keeper’s house is now a DoC 'hut' and is an awesome spot to stay.
