“I’m looking at Sitka spruce right now out of my window and there’s one that’s about 130ft tall and the other is about 100ft tall,” says Andrew Thoms from the Tongass National Forest in Southeast Alaska. “They’re growing, they’re putting off seeds, they’re fantastic. And you could cut those trees down and mill those up and the wood coming out of them would be terrible and you wouldn’t even want to use it to make framing for your house.
