Sitting in the Palazzo Litta in Milan, awaiting the first of some 200 one-of-a-kind looks that would represent Dolce & Gabbana’s latest Alta Moda and Alta Sartoria collections, the audience lining the internal perimeter of the rose-filled palazzo could have been said to have been viewing this most extravagant and opulent of collections with a certain nervous curiosity.
