Running more will not make you stronger. It’s a mistake many make in their attempt to run further and faster. Yes, time on your legs and the trail is needed but if the foundation of how you move isn’t strong enough, injury is just around the corner.
After speaking at two Gauteng Trail Clinics), two trends are clear to me: first, the lack of strength training and second, the high incidence of injuries. Isn’t your running supposed to be enjoyable? How much enjoyment is there because your body is working at a fraction of its potential?
