1. WILL + INFINITIVE

1.2. Or you offer to do something:

I'll answer the phone!

Respond to the following using I'll...

It's very hot here. (I'll open the window) I am thirsty. It's very dark in here. This bag is very heavy for me. We need some bread. I need to go to the airport urgently.

WILL + INFINITIVE
1.3. To predict a future event when we think or believe it will happen: - Who do you think will win? 1.4. To make promises, threats... - We will create more jobs

1.5. Predictions with very little present evidence

You will meet a tall dark stranger and then you will win the lottery

They say it will rain tomorrow

Remember: a future intention or plan

I'll get married when I'm old

2. GOING TO
2.1. When we can see the future in the present:

She's going to have a baby

He is going to fall

Take an umbrella, it's going to rain

GOING TO
2.2. To express plans and intentions (which we have decided to do):

He's going to do some sport this year and he's going to stop smoking

Remember: A plan

I am going to get married soon

(we have taken the decision)

Ask and answer about future plans using GOING TO What/do/next Christmas? Where / go/ tonight? What time/get up/next Saturday? Watch TV/tonight? What/ for dinner?

3. PRESENT CONTINUOUS
3.1. To indicate future personal arrangements and plans that are already fixed now (especially when we give the date, time or place)

I'm meeting Tom on Monday at 1. We're having lunch together

Remember: Fixed plans

My friends are getting married next weekend
