SPANISH AND LITERATURE

Read and analyze literary texts (novels, plays, poetry and essay) from the second half of the twentieth Century and from the twenty-first, and focus on the behaviors, attitudes and ways in which emotional and affective relationships are developed. Students have to take into account the cultural and economic conditions of our culture.

The point is what novelist Carmen Martn Gaite use to call "usos amorosos (loving purposes). Students could write brief works in which they should explain the differences between the manners that ruled in the past and those in their environment nowadays. Moreover, they could work on the different manners across all Europe, focusing on the countries participating in this Comenius Project.

A compilation of sentences of politeness Create a list of common phrases of politeness: meeting someone saying goodbye asking for something different ways to say excuse me different ways to say thank you etc Record all the sentences in audio format. upload to a podcast and write down the sentences. sort them and publish the result in the Comenius blog.

CATHOLIC RELIGION The Spanish proverbs relating to the Saints. A simple guide to understanding past customs and habits of daily life through analyzing proverbs and their relationship with the catholic religion. Working with proverbs provide us with basic information about the customs, traditions and human behavior, especially in rural and agricultural economies. In the countryside the traditions are closely related to religion and they have given rise to our religious festival calendar. This is our didactic approach: Read proverbs Understand their meaning Analyze the content Compile proverbs and complete the list Know the life of some saints whose celebrations allude to the proverbs Express and represent the proverbs artistic or visually (drawings, photos, murals, digital art or presentations) Publish the results

PHILOSOPHY Much of the existing conflicts that occur in school and outside of school are caused by the dislocation suffered by our students. For this reason, the Department of Philosophy has proposed learning activities to encourage dialogue and listening skills, respect and equality. Indeed, the subject of Ethics and Citizenship allows efficient learning about interpersonal relationships, identities, social relations, rules, rights and duties. For this purpose, we have required the students in 4th year of Secondary School (aged 15-16) to do some activities of observation and analysis of behavior, social roles and relationships between people (men and women). We suggest three different activities: 1. Identity and lifestyle: Celebrations and Festivals.

The proposed theme is Christmas (at school and in the community). 2. Interpersonal relationships in education: The classroom as a formal space for coexistence.

The proposed themes are: Avoid conflicts and bullying Rules of civility in the classroom Teacher and student behavior Academic standards 3. Living conditions and social organization.

The proposed theme is leisure activities and study habits in order to observe the customs of the students.

TRADITIONS AND CUSTOMS IN EVERYDAY LIFE divided in two areas: School and Social life (courtesy, manners, respect) Project to be carried out by 8/10 students. 13-14 years old students (2 & 3 ESO) Didactic approach: Write a QUESTIONNAIRE to ask their grandparents about the topic: How school habit and manners in social life have changed since the time they were students up to now. Do an interview to ask students from different countries and others whose parents come from other cultures about the topic: Etiquettes when greeting, at the table, introductions, habits and manners at present and the former generation. Work on the results of the surveys. Publish their conclusions as a POWER POINT in the Comenius Blog.

Aims: Comparing past vs. present traditions. Appreciating respect to social codes and conventions. Let students and adults share experiences and habits about their every day life (being empathic). Students could ask either their own grandparents or go to Old Peoples Institutions to make the survey. Appreciating old peoples expertise and wisdom.
