GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Creation and modification of detailed designs and CAD data to support specials, engineering changes, &
product/quality improvements.  Provide product and technical sales support for all group members, Teknion
departments and customers.
 
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Enginering Data Creation/Modification
·         Produce/modify CAD models & manufacturing drawings to support Specials & ECR projects (using
Solidworks and Legacy Autocad Data).
·         Ensure that drawings created have all the information required to produce the product efficiently and
according to internal standards.
·         Use auxiliary technology systems to ensure the correct and accurate flow of information (PDM software,
Specials Software (PriceIT, Drawing Request System), TechniOnline, Baan, etc.
 
2. Product Design/Modification
·         Modify/design products to satisfy specials requirements and to solve product related issues.
·         Coordinate & process Engineering Changes (ECOs)
·         Ensure that derived solutions can be produced and assembled in an efficient and cost effective manner by
Teknion’s manufacturing facilities or suppliers.
·         Work with other departments to facilitate the continuous improvement of product designs and internal
operations (Production, Quality, Purchasing, Customer Service, Sales, Design Engineering, Marketing, etc)
·         Liase with 3rd party suppliers to source components required to produce product.
·         Process cost reduction or product improvement projects.
·         Assist with the launch of new products as required.
 
3. Sales & Technical Support
·         Provide technical support for products to all Teknion departments (Sales, Production, Operations, Customer
Service, etc) and customers (Dealer’s & End Users).
·         Support the Product Engineering Hotline.
·         Remain current on product lines, manufacturing capabilities and new production capabilities.
·         Perform site visits as required to service Sales/Customer needs as required.
 
4. Prototyping & Testing
·         Prepare prototypes to support projects and validate designs as required.
·         Install product mockups and perform R&D and Fit/Function tests to validate designs and engineering changes.
·         Liase with the Certification department to ensure that products meet established certification requirements
(BIFMA, UL, CGSB, CSA, etc.).
 
 
QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS.
 
·         Mechanical Engineering Degree from an accredited Post Secondary Institution (Advanced technical
certification from an accredited Post Secondary Institution will be considered if accompanied by demonstrated
aptitude & experience in a similar role).
·         2-5 years experience in a product design/support environment
·         Extensive knowledge of Solidworks CAD Software
·         Working knowledge of Autocad CAD Software
·         Well developed knoweledge and experience in the preparation of detailed drawings
·         Good knowledge of manufacturing processes (sheet metal fabrication, wood fabrication, aluminum/plastic
extruding, assembly)
·         Experienced in the handling of multiple projects in a time sensitive envirmonment
·         A strong sense of urgency and self motivation
·         Excellent organizational & problem-solving skills
·         Well developed communications skills (written and oral)
·         Good interpersonal and presentation skills
