Apprentices and Instructors got together in an event in which leisure activities and sports where included. I had the opportunity to enjoy tejo games as well as swimming and five-on-five soccer matches. My fellow classmates particularly liked dancing and hanging out with classmates and friends from the different programs offered at SENA. In addition to the leisure activities organized, a formal ceremony was held in order to recognize academic excellence, where awards were given to top students and athletes with outstanding performance in academic and sport competitions. The event was a wonderful opportunity to strengthen our bonds and to commemorate all our efforts as apprentices and members of our great institution. Thanks to the academic and administrative staff for organizing such an amazing day! Far away from Girons SENA CIMI community there is place, towards the north side of Bucaramanga, where great opportunities in integral education occur. The Italian congregation Order of Somascos Fathers, who arrived to Colombia in 1964, work helping the vulnerable young people of the world, teaching spiritually and providing technical studies since the end of World War II. Somascos is located in La Esperanza 2 neighborhood in the Amanecer Youth Center; Priest John Carlos Castaeda, the director of the center, states: a dream of ours has always been the creation of a center for the young people of Bucaramanga to teach youngsters technical subjects just like in any other European country. This dream was completed in 1983, since 2012 Somascos and SENA- CIMI created an alliance to help the north side population, using workshops and specialized classrooms. Elver Yesid Calderon, the Motorcycles Maintenance Technical teacher, reached the Somascos congregation 3 months ago saying: At the Somascos congregation we form great human talent with professional and integral quality just like any other SENA installation. Its very important to us that the SENA community knows about Somascos and that we teach integral formation on technical and complementary programs. Now in Somascos we can find several technical programs like welding of metallic structures, Systems, Clothing Confection, Motorcycles Maintenance, etc. The Llorentes vase NEWS TIMES NEWS TIMES CI M e h I T Centro Industrial de Mantenimiento Integral Regional Santander Page 2 The Independence Day The Llorentes vase July 2014 Seventh Edition For that reason, once Llorente made the refusal of the vase the Creoles, as if they had been planning something from the day before, used this occasion to heat up the feelings of the town against the Spanish royalty. In this way, the vase was used as an excuse in order to create a brawl. Instantly, Antonio de Morales Fernandez yelled at Caldas for the manner in which Llorente had treated the Creoles, shouting at them in an imperious manner and creating turbulence and attacks on Llorente. The Mayor of Santa Fe, Jose Miguel Pey, tried to calm the town by removing Llorente, while Jose Maria Carbonel encouraged the inhabitants of the town to unite in protest. At the end of the afternoon, things calmed down and they proceeded to designate the members of the government board, without the support of Jose Acevedo y Gomez (whom history has called ever since the Tribune of the Town), but the designation of the Viceroy as the President of the government body created animosity in the town. The Vase of Llorente is an important event in Colombian history. This uprising, also known as the Shout of independence on the 20th of July, occurred on that date in 1810. The name of this incident is based on the refusal of a businessman, named Jose Gonzalez Llorente, to loan a vase to one man known as Luis de Rubio. On the morning of July 20th, Joaquin Camacho decided to go to the residence of the Viceroy, Antonio Jose Amar y Borbon, in order to ask for a response about the creation of a government body in Santa Fe, but the Viceroys refusal and his arrogance led to a fight over a flowerpot. Lord Santamaria went to visit the business of Jose Gonzalez Llorente in order to borrow a vase, with the intention of using it at a dinner for the Royal Commissioner Antonio Villavicencio (born in Quito). The Creoles knew that Llorente would refuse to loan the vase to one Creole who would offer a reception to another Creole. Eder Alfonso Fernandez Silva. Jess Alberto Guevara Lamus. Subsequently, they asked an open district council to order the arrest of the Viceroy and on the 21 of July and on the 26 of July they proceeded to declare as free the new Regency Council of the board. st th Towards the Beginning of the Patria Boba or The First Republic. Due to their loyalty to their King, the nobility tried to show good intentions and demanded the same in Nueva Granadas government or through the elected representation of the free vote, however things went in a different direction: the Independence of Cartagena de Las Indias (11 of November, 1811) was a challenge due to a form of government in an agricultural territory, generating a war between those in favor of a more Central or more Federal government. This period is known as the Patria Boba, or as historians recently have renamed it, the First Republic. The conflict not only left the country divided in two factions, but left it open to external threats which culminated in the reconquest by Spain in 1816. All of this past is part of Colombian history. th July 2014 Seventh Edition Soccer world cup Brazil 2014 our dream came true! NEWS TIMES NEWS TIMES R O T P S S Page 3 World Cup Soccer- Brazil 2014- Our dream came true! What a great beginning! Happiness and pride are two words that can describe this wonderful Colombian soccer team. Personally I feel that Colombia deserved to win against Brazil; we had the team to be champions but soccer is a sport of contrasts. Not only the team who plays the most jogo bonito wins, it is also necessary to be efficient, and in our last game many items where against us. But it is not important to find excuses now, I do not want to darken the good work of our warriors. At the beginning of the World Cup many Colombians thought that with the injury of RADAMEL FALCAO GARCIA Colombia did not have many chances to score and pass the first round. Fortunately, it was not like that, the whole country was impressed by the talent of a new generation of players. We saw a new start for the world of soccer. JAMES RODRIGUEZ an amazing 23 years old guy that directed our Colombian orchestra full of dribble, goals and wins. This soccer team taught the whole world how to celebrate with style and how to dance. We began to feel the yellow fever and many people around the world started to follow the Colombian team. English, Italians, Spanish and others turned their preference to the Colombian team when their teams were eliminated. The way they played and showed their skills, the best goal in the whole event and the best goal scorer JAMES RODRIGUEZ, who made history. This dream came true thanks to the creator of a new generation of players that believe in themselves, filled with confidence and motivation thanks to our dear coach JOSE PEKERMAN, an Argentinian who has his heart in Colombia and believed in our team since the beginning. This team helped a country to find the union and brotherhood that we need to be a better nation. I am sure that June and July of 2014 will be unforgettable for the Colombian dreamers who saw this as a new start for Colombian soccer. Despite his youth age, the soccer player James Rodriguez has shown maturity and stability on and off the field. In matters of love, he has had good luck, and he also enjoys having fortune and talent. He is currently married to Daniela Ospina, who is the sister of the goal keeper from the Colombian team, David Ospina. James and Daniela did not met through the goalkeeper, instead they met through a friend they have in common. It was love at first sight!
James and Daniela have been together for five years. Currently, they live in Monaco and have a little daughter, Salome, who was born in May 2013 in Medellin. Each time they have the opportunity to visit their home in Colombia, at the end of every season, they travel to visit Ospina's family in the paisa city where they reside. James Rodriguez's career began at Cucuta field where he played and left an impact, allowing him to play at the Ponyfutbol championship, which is an important soccer competition in Antioquia. As time passed, he was signed by the Banfield of Argentina and later with the Porto of Portugal, in which he won the Golden Ball award from Portugal in 2012. With this award, he became the second best Colombian player, after Radamel Falcao, achieving this honor at a very young age. The following season, he won the league title for the third consecutive year, and won his eighth title overall in Europe; after only three seasons in Porto and being just 21 years old. He moved to Monaco, with a value of 45 million of euros, becoming the second most expensive player in the history of Colombia, as well as one of the highest in the soccer world. I studied electromechanical maintenance in 2009, then I graduated and I started making history in the industry and I was finally able to return to SENA again. How was your experience as an Apprentice? Honestly, my experience was very nice, you learn a lot here at SENA, you learn from several people, you always have the opportunity to study with people who are not as old as you are, so it opens your mind and makes you gain a lot of knowledge. Consequently, it was very rewarding and very useful for new opportunities. How was your experience as an Instructor? It was hard because you are used to the technical process, I mean, you only do things related to being an operator, then you change your role and become an Instructor, so you start a process as a role model for the Apprentices. You have to take into account SENA regulations, processes and so on. Therefore, it was and still is a huge challenge. I am quite confident that through experience, I will acquire all the skills and abilities to build up my personality as an instructor. What opportunities has SENA given to you? Many opportunities. I had the opportunity to be overseas and be part of some companies. Here, in Colombia, specifically in Bucaramanga, my biggest goal is to be part of SENA as an Instructor. This is rewarding, is something that fills me with pride and satisfaction, as I can teach the knowledge that I have acquired over time. What advice would you give to an Apprentice who wants to become a SENA Instructor? SENA provides spaces for you to take advantage of as an institution and many people do not take advantage of well qualified education for free. Some Apprentices let the opportunities go and that it is a terrible mistake. SENA is a great institution that gives us all the tools and all the opportunities for us to take advantage of.
