Interview with the engineer
Carlos Arturo Nuez
Sixth Edition
Welcome to our new director
Arturo Fernando Rojas, an architect born in Medellin, is the person chosen
to be in charge of the programs and services offered at SENA.

For Rojas, this new experience is an opportunity to strengthen the
extraordinary work made by former Director Gina Parody. In a recent
interview to El Tiempo, the new director outlines three main factors as
crucial to continue with a successful process. First, the quality of both
academics, and administrative staff. Second, the constant support
provided by the general Director, who took the time to visit all the regions
and understand the local needs. And third, the organizations commitment
with Colombian companies and with people who want to become
technologist and Technicians.
For Rojas the main goal for these coming years is to acquire academic
excellence and to provide programs that help SENA become the largest
vocational education and training provider in Latin America.
Best of lucks to Mr. Rojas in his future endeavors!

Our song festival
Music has been an influence and the opportunity to improve our English level. In the last two months, apprentices and instructors
started the rehearsals to make their dream come true, the SENA C.I.M.I song festival.
After hours of hard work and practice, the best performances were exposed in an eliminatory and then the winners had the chance to
perform that great day.
Everything was ready for the big celebration; the audience, the singers, the host and the external judges that were invited to the event.
Different categories such the Colombian folklore song, the Spanish as well as the English one were held.

All SENA community was impressed by the talent and hard work showed by the participants and we want to congratulate the
winners and encourage anyone who is interested in taking part in the next festival. As instructors and guides in the apprentices
learning process, we will assure they will continue with the support of events of this kind.

Industrial Electricity
The Sena CIMI Girn has a variety of educational careers, and
offers many options which are popular nowadays in the labor area
such as industrial electricity. You receive a complete knowledge in
the management of networks of high, medium and low voltage, but
also management of engines, engine control and automation and
peripherals.
At work, discipline is one of the job
requirements that a company
expects from its employees, within a range
of other good habits. But ... what is discipline?
(It is the coordination of attitudes which is instructed to
develop skills, or to follow a certain code of conduct or
order.)
Many doubt the real meaning of this, because weve
always harbored doubt; but this should become a tool
to acquire more knowledge and not an excuse for not
doing it...
"In a life full of good habits, theres always discipline ...
And a life full of bad habits, laziness
Today, Discipline becomes a great force in peoples
lives, which infuses an iron will and an almost
unconditional willingness to do almost anything
without fear of being wrong. But for the new
generations the word discipline has lost its meaning,
why? Because weve acquired lots of misconceptions
of the meaning, because we have the habit of living
through a very radical social and popular model which
prevent us from seeing the reality.
The word discipline should have a more attractive
meaning for young people. That meaning should
determine the future of youngsters and drive them to be
successful and not becoming a failure.
In my opinion discipline should always be seen as
something that unifies the will of the spirit, the strength
of knowledge and action of the body, creating a healthy
being.
Although having said that, our weaknesses will always
be there, but it doesnt mean that we cannot achieve our
goal, we just need to be consistent: "one step at a time
with a steady hand...
In the area of industrial electricity
you will have the support from
trained professors who will guide
the learning process of the students.
They will apply diverse methods
such as: the tics, and different ways
to transmit information; in addition
they have access to specialized
classrooms to do the practical work
and also, open field-working areas
such as the Dwarfs Network Park.

Industrial Electricity is designed to
satisfy all the needs of the labor
market, throughout the Colombian
territory, where you can work as a
supervisor and other roles.
The period of the course is 2 years, in which you have 18 months in
the collective area. Also, you can learn and enjoy in the different
environments that SENA offers for the professional preparation.
Industrial Electricity offers you the
opportunity to join a research
group, in which you can participate
actively in order to create ideas and
share it in regional meetings
supervised by the redCOLSI. In
addition, to be supported by the

Interview with the engineer
Carlos Arturo Nuez
Genny Jazmin Redondo
Jazmin: Good morning dear engineer. It is a pleasure
to have the chance to interview the man, the
professional, the father and obviously our coordinator
and guide here at SENA CIMI.
Ing. Carlos: Thank you very much. I am pleased to be
here to share some of my experiences with the
newspaper.
Jazmin: : Please lets start talking about your
professional background. Can you tell us something
about your profession and experience here at SENA?
Ing. Carlos: Off course! I am an engineer in electricity
and I started as an instructor at SENA in 1994. I
worked for 4 years teaching and sharing ideas and all I
knew at that moment with the apprentices. Later, in
1998, I had the opportunity to become part of SENA
with a full time contract and after 10 years of hard
work, I received the offer to become the academic
coordinator here at SENA CIMI, which was a pleasure
and an honor for me. That is a little part of the story I
am still living.
Jazmin: Awesome! Great effort and it is been a long
time working with SENA!
Ing. Carlos: True! But time goes so fast and I have
seen so many good changes here, I am so happy with
my job.
Jazmin: well! As you can notice, this month we had
the celebration of the fathers day and we wanted to
interview an exemplary father to share some of the
experiences of being a model for society.
Ing. Carlos: I have to children, Arturo Alejandro who
is 17 years old and who is starting university, and
Maria Fernanda. She is 15 years old and she just
finished school, I love them and my favorite activity is
spending my free time with them, we love to go to
picnics and to travel.
Jazmin: I imagine how valuable the time you spend
with your children is! Congratulations!
Engineer can you leave a message for the apprentices
and the community at SENA CIMI before we finished
this interview?
Ing. Carlos: Yes, Actually I will love to tell the
community that the best and greatest value of SENA is
the commitment and dedication that apprentices and
instructors have to accomplish each goal and to
improve day after day. Hard work will take this
institution to the highest level.
Jazmin: Engineer Carlos thank you very much for
your time and dedication to open your hearth and to
share something about your life experiences, as a
professional and as a father.
Ing. Carlos: Thanks. Have a great day and it was a
pleasure!
