The main objective in Elche International Independent Film Festival, organized by Fundacin
Caja Mediterrneo, is to offer a cultural place for producers and amateurs. It supposes a constant
compromise with the encouragement of culture and supporting the raising values in the seventh
art, believing in innovation, striking up a conversation between the audience and the author and
eliminating all technological barriers when it comes to take part and voting.
In spite of its adaptation to new technologies, Elche International Independent Film Festival doesnt
forget its origins and the respect in searching the best quality in every format that technology
allows. Therefore the only avowed format is HD quality video.
Also, along its path, Elche International Independent Film Festival has honored great movie stars
in spanish cinema as Sara Montiel, Fernando Fernn Gmez, Julieta Serrano, Sancho Gracia
and Juan Diego, among others.

37th Edition consists of the following requirements:

1. Any individual over 18 years old can participate, independently of its nationality, or any
person, legal or natural. In that case, they must sing up as a registered user in the web site www.
festivalcineelx.es. The presentation of the works in competition is exclusively online through the
aforementioned web site and in the way explained in the paragraph Inscription, Participation
and Voting, included in General Terms of Use. We DONT accept physical mailing through
postal services and/or courier.
2. Every Author/Producer/Distributor can submit all the works they want, the only condition is
not to have been previously shown in this contest and they must have been lmed after January
1, 2012.
3. The term for uploading the works into the web site www.festivalcineelx.es starts on june the 4th
and ends on july the 3rd at 23:59:59h. From the date outlined, more works will not be accepted.
4. The Author/Producer/Distributor has the power of asking the withdrawal at any time of all the
works they have submitted just by sending an e-mail to festivalelche@cajamediterraneo.es.
5. The Organization will only acknowledge as a competitor the Author/Producer/Distributor who
has checked in as an user in the web site www.festivalcineelx.es. Any other person taking part
in the elaboration of the work should address the Author/Producer/Distributor registered in the
web site www.festivalcineelx.es in case there is any incidence regarding the presentation of the
work in the competition.

For competing, the Author/Producer/Distributor must convert their work to the specied formats
in the web site www.festivalcineelx.es, indicated in section Sign up, Participation and Voting
included in Terms of Service of the web site.

The works presented in the Festival must be shown in any of the spanish ocial languages. If
the original version is in any other language, they must have subtitles in spanish or any of the
spanish ocial languages, but it could be admitted without the aforementioned subtitles if the jury
determinate so according to its quality.
The contestants have two options for participating:
Free access: The works will be displayed completely in the web site, for broadcasting,
socialization and acknowledgment. Moreover, they could be shown, if they are selected,
in Screening Gala in Hort del Xocolater and Arenales del Sol Beach.
Restricted for the Jury: the Author/Producer/Distributor determine that their works can
only be displayed online for the members of the Jury and will be projected just in case
they are selected, in Screening Gala in Hort del Xocolater and Arenales del Sol Beach.

In the section Inscription, Participation and Voting included in Terms of Service of the web the
Author/Producer/Distributor have all the guidelines needed for participating in both options.
PRE-SELECTION OF FINALISTS AND SCREENING SESSIONS
The nalists will be selected by a group of prestigious persons in the world of image. Their
decision will be known from July 14, 2014.
The only format accepted for nalist selection and screening sessions is Digital High Denition
(area/region 0 and in 16:9).
For preparating the realization needed in the Screening Sessions, the organization will ask to the
selected ones sending the high digital quality possible, which its contents must be the same as the
one uploaded in www.festivalcineelx.es. Any work not complying with the categories, formats
and length established in the current terms, will be automatically disqualied.

The Organization must have the original digital les before July 18, 2014. The Organization will
accord with the nalists through the internet, the way of sending them.
After July 18, 2014, the Organization will convene a Jury of Qualication which will be composed
of different people in the world of cinema and broadcasting. Their verdict, which will be nal, will
be announced in the Closing Gala on August 01, 2014.
The Screening Sessions will take place from 25 to 31 of July 2014 in Hort del Xocolater, Fundacin
Caja Mediterrneo Center and Arenales del Sol Beach.
AWARDS 37 EDITION
FUNDACIN CAJA MEDITERRNEO AWARD TO THE BEST SHORT in any of the formats and/or
categories provided with 4.000 and DAMA Trophy.
AYUNTAMIENTO DE ELCHE AWARD TO THE BEST SHORT OF FICTION provided with 2.000 and
DAMA Trophy.
BEST ANIMATED SHORT AWARD provided with 2.000 and DAMA Trophy.
BEST DOCUMENTARY SHORT AWARD provided with 1.500 and DAMA Trophy.
AUDIENCE HORT DEL XOCOLATER AWARD provided with 500 and DAMA Trophy. Will be
awarded the most voted work according to the audience attending to the Ocial Section in Hort
del Xocolater. All the information related to the previous accounting of the votes, can be found
in the section Sign up, Participation and Voting, included in General Terms of Service in the
aforementioned web site.
ONLINE AUDIENCE AWARD provided with 500 and DAMA Trophy. Will be awarded the most
voted work according to the registered users in www.festivalcineelx.es. All the information related
to the previous accounting of the votes, can be found in the section Sign up, Participation and
Voting, included in General Terms of Service in the aforementioned web site.
The Organization reserves the right to cancel any vote issued fraudulently or due any kind of
manipulation of the voting system.
The awards will be paid through personal check/bank transfer issued by the Organization for
the natural or legal person who has been registered as a contestant, being subjected to any
deductions that determine the current tax rules and no latter than tree months since the end of the
Closing Gala. Both prizes and trophies must be collected by the participants in the Closing Gala,
on 01 August 2014.
While in its hands, the Organization will look after the original digital hardware. Except the
winners, all the works will be deleted after the end of the Closing Gala and the web site www.
festivalcineelx.es.

LEGAL TERMS
The Author/Director/Distributor of the works presented to the contest states their authorship,
direction and production and, being unpublished and original, they are free of third party claims.
Without prejudice to the use and marketing the author/Director/Distributor makes with the
awarded work, Fundacin Caja Mediterrneo can:
To keep the work in a digital le in the domains and/or Fundacin Caja Mediterrneo
web site, so all the users can watch during the days of Festival. The works can be
watched anytime and anywhere but just in streaming.
Limited rights of public broadcasting of the awarded works in this edition so Fundacin
Caja Mediterrneo, through its activities, can show them every time needed. All the
screening will be free and will mention, if it is the case, the award received in the Festival.
The screening will serve to promote the aforementioned short and the Festival itself.
Production rights of the winner shorts so they can be led and Fundacin Caja Mediterrneo
can create an especia edition in CD, DVD or something in between in which the work
can be included along with the rest of the works presented in this edition or previous
editions in Elche Intenational Independent Film Festival.
Although Fundacin Caja Mediterrneo has limited rights of reproduction, the Author/
Producer/Distributor of the winner works can contact with Fundacin Caja Mediterrneo
asking for the removing of any of its works, in case they are dealing with its distribution.
Fundacin Caja del Mediterrneo supports shorts lm.
The Author/Director/Distributor, through their sign up in this web site, show their accordance
and acceptance of the present terms, allowing Fundacin Caja Mediterrneo, non prot entity,
CIF G-03046562 and place of business in Avenida Doctor Gadea, 1, 03003 in Alicante, using
the works in the terms set out above, with assignment to Fundacin Caja Mediterrneo the right
of Intellectual Property exclusively for the activities aforementioned. The scope of the assignment
will not be exclusive and will be international.

ACCEPTANCE OF THE RULES
The Organization is exempt from all responsibility in case of malfunction of the Internet, impeding
a normal development of the contest for reasons beyond the Organization and, especially, for
external mean acts.

SIGN UP, PARTICIPATION AND VOTING

The participation in 37th Edition of Elche International Independent Film Festival is, exclusively,
through the following web site www.festivalcineelx.es, not allowing the presentation of original
works through postal services or courier. The works, which must be originals and presented in
High Denition, will be converted to the following formats shown in the next table:

The aforementioned web site is open to the public. You can watch exclusively in streaming
the works selected by the authors to be displayed openly, as explained in the paragraph To
compete.
This web application doesnt allow to download the works for watching them in another hardware
or online. For uploading, voting and commenting the videos, the visitor must be registered in the
web site as explained on paragraph How to sign up.
SIGN UP
In order to vote, comment and compete, the user must be registered in the web site www.
festivalcineelx.es. It only takes a couple of minutes.
STEP 1: Choose user name and password. Once registered, it will ask for your user name for
voting, commenting and/or compete.
STEP 2: Fill in the gaps with your personal data.
STEP 3: Accept the conditions of the Festival by ticking the check box.
STEP 4: Send. Once registered, the user will recibe a conrmation e-mail. The user needs to
sign up only once in this Edition of Elche International Independent Film Festival.
The users can modify their personal data and check out in the web site by contacting with the
organization.

FOR COMPETING
The Author/Director/Distributor who wants to take part as a contestant must follow the next
guidelines:
STEP 1: Sign up in the web site www.festivalcineelx.es, writing down their personal data in
the registration form, as indicated previously.
STEP 2: In the section Enviar Vdeo a Concurso, you have to ll in the following gaps: Title,
Director, Production, Script, Photography, Montage, Length, Nationality, Year, Category,
Theme, Cast, Synopsis. And add a still from the video.
STEP 3: Accept the legal terms protecting the contest and Elche International Film Festival. You
can download this document for later review.
STEP 4: The Author/Director/Distributor must choose between two options. Show their work
unscrambled, for everyone who visit the web site. Or show their work restricted, so just the
members of the Jury can watch the video. This video will only be shown in Screening Sessions
in Hort del Xocolater and Arenales del Sol beach, if this short is chosen as nalist for the jury.
STEP 5: The contestant must be of age.
STEP 6: Click on Upload Video button. The video must be in one of the formats aforementioned.
When the short is uploaded successfully, the Author/Director/Distributor will receive a conrmation
on the screen.
Once registered, the Author/Director/Distributor can upload all the videos they want, following
the four steps aforementioned and accepting the legal terms for each video sent.
The Organization will need 24h for reviewing the video and accept it in the web site.
In case of detecting a video that fails to perform the rules, will be automatically discharged,
being notied the Author/Director/Distributor by e-mail.
The web site www.festivalcineelx.es has all the screen helpers needed and a section of FAQ
to facilitating the sign up and sending the videos.
The Organization will delete all personal data in the web site www.festivalcineelx.es at the
end of the closing gala and the end of the 37 Elche International Independent Film Festival,
according to the Data Protection Law. For more information, please check the section Legal
Terms in www.festivaldecinedeelx.es, that can be also downloaded.
While the duration of the 37 Elche Independent International Film Festival, the contestants can
contact every time they need with the Technical Service in this web site through the resources
provided in its section Contact.

The Author/Director/Distributor is solely responsible for the content of the short. The
Organization is exempt from any liability thereof.
The Author/Director/Distributor can remove a video or all of them in every moment. In that
case they must ask for it directly to the Organization through this e-mail address festivalelche@
cajamediterraneo.es, pointing out the video(s) they want to remove.
PARTICIPATION
Participating is one of the main objectives in this Edition. It means the enhancement of the work
of the Author/Director/Producer directly with their public, being the communication between
equals and rewarding the seventh art with the opinions of both parts.
This way, all the users in this web site (registered or not) can link the videos and comments through
the social networks. The aforementioned web site is also prepared for the user (registered or not)
can link with their web/blog the video they want to comment.
Therefore, Fundacin Caja Mediterrneo wants to socialice this web site www.festivalcineelx.es
allowing to the registered users voting, commenting and participating, and link the works for
commenting in the different social networks they might be in.
This web site also allows to the registered users share their opinions in the le of each video. So
the Author/Director/Distributor and the users can establish a free conversation in order to enrich
both parts.
The Organization is exempt from any liability for the comments made in the les of each short
presented to the contest.
The Organization is also exempt from any liability about the comments made for any user
registered when linking to the Social Network they might be in.

VOTING
Voting is another objective in this Festival. The users can vote all the videos they want. The
web site www.festivalcineelx.es allows the registered user voting each video once, not allowing
voting more than once the same video.
The way of voting is through the le of the desired work where the registered user will nd a
button for voting which will be activated once the user have watched at least 3/4 parts of the
video.
The registered users can watch and vote the videos from the publishing date of the rules till the
day before (31/07/2014) of the Closing Gala of this Edition of the Festival, August 1st 2014.
The web site application will be closed in order to count the votes.
The most voted video will be the winner of the ONLINE AUDIENCE AWARD, a prize worth 500
and DAMA Trophy.
The Organization reserves the right to void any vote cast fraudulently or due to any manipulation
of the voting system.
The Organization is exempt of all responsibility in case of malfunction of the Internet Network,
to prevent the normal development of the contest, or reason beyond the company and specially
external wicked acts. Nor shall be responsible either for transmission or loss of e-mails not
attributable to the company.
