Ravenous Biohazard 5 Rules

**This is a brief overview of the game rules. Examples and expanded rules and details are in the core rule set.** Ravenous 5 is a collectible and expandable card game for 2+ players. The object is for players to play Faction cards to defend and train ain cards to attack %ith. 5hen train cards attack and are not blocked damage is dealt to your upply !ache "deck#$ the last person %ith cards in their upply !ache %ins. &. Faction !ards' Faction cards are made up of your defenders$ urvivor cards$ as %ell as other cards that are used by your urvivors$ (vents$ )ocations and (nhancements. 2. train !ards' train cards are made up of your attackers$ *ombie cards$ as %ell as other cards that are used by your *ombies$ (vents and (volutions Dec Building. ers must construct decks according to the follo%ing rules, +ll players &. -ecks are made up of ./ cards 2. 0ou must have, a. 2/'15 15 Faction cards b. 15'2/ 2/ train !ards. 1. 0ou are allo%ed up to 2 copies of a card$ unless they are marked %ith a uni3ue$ than you are allo%ed a sin single copy in your deck. !la". +t the start everyone dra%s 4 cards. There are t%o types of cards in Ravenous$ !hain !ards and !ost !ards. !hain cards are marked %ith one of these symbols and a number beside it. The $ $ symbol tells you %hat chain a card may play in$ each link in the chain must have a matching symbol. + chain allo%s you to play character cards for free$ or for reduced cost. The number beside the !hain symbol %ill be /+. tarting %ith / you may play the chain in order$ a /$ than a &$ 2 etc7 6f played in order every card is free. 6f you %anted to play a chain & %ith no / than it %ould cost &. 6f you had a / and %anted to play a 2 you %ould have to pay & upply$ one missing card in the chain. 6f you fill up your chain you must start a ne% one. 6f chain cards are killed during play than you may fill that chain back up %ith %it ne% cards. !ost cards have a number but no !hain symbol. To play these cards$ )ocations$ (vents$ (nhancements and (volutions$ you must pay the cost listed on the card in upply :oints. (vents$ )ocations$ (nhancements$ and (volutions may only be played, &. ;y y a !haracter %ith a matching Faction icon$ found in the center box to the left and right hand side of the picture. !a"ing $uppl". To pay upply points you may, &. -iscard cards from your hand$ one card & supply. 2. ;urn a card from the top of your deck$ & card & supply. 1. 8se a )ocation$ or ability$ to pay for the upply.

#haracter cards. There are four types of !haracters$ urvivors$ Red Tide "intelligent urvivor *ombies#$ *ombies$ and !reatures. urvivors have Faction icons in the center of the card$ to the left and right of the picture. These Faction icons tell you %hat (vents$ )ocations$ and (nhancement cards that urvivor can play and use.

Red Event

(vent cards allo% characters to use special po%ers in game play. These are used during action %indo%s. (vents can be, +ctions$ !onstants$ Reactions and 6nterrupts. The yello% box$ in this case %ith the number 1$ indicates the cards speed$ %hen played against other (vents$ it tells the order of play.

&ocations )ocations allo% :layers special bonuses as %ell as granting them much need extra upply points$ so they do not al%ays have to discard cards. )ocations can be attacked by <ombies$ and they provide a health and defence bonus to any urvivor that chooses to defend them.

Evolution and Enhancements. (volutions and (nhancements are played the same %ith the follo%ing exceptions, &. (nhancements$ unless specified$ may only be played on urvivors$ they also may be moved during the -eployment :hase. 2. (volutions may only be played on <ombies$ and may never be moved. ;oth provide bonuses to !haracters during play. (ach has either a series of numbers$ or symbols$ these indicate %hat body part is re3uired for use$ or in the case of (volutions %hat part of the body they effect. 0ou may stack them$ so long as each has a different box marked.

#ombat !ombat is 3uick and dirt in Ravenous. :layers declare an attack and indicate ho% many <ombies %ill be -riven out to combat their opponent. The opposing player than chooses %hich urvivors %ill block$ and %ho they %ill block. +ny unblocked *ombies continue on and deal their damage right to the opponents upply !ache "deck#. +s indicated on the cards the bottom left is the -efence=+ttack$ the bottom right is >ealth. 6f the -efence=+ttack is e3ual to or higher than the health$ the lo%er card is removed$ in case of a tie$ both combatants are killed. 9ne final note speed$ that yello% diamond shape$ is used in combat as %ell. The card %ith the higher speed gains a +& to the -efence=+ttack. Extras. ;elo% is some of the extra stuff in Ravenous. Though these rules are sharply condensed it %ill allo% you a glimpse into game play. 'nnate (bilities !ards 3uite often %ill have an 6nnate +bility. +n 6+ are po%ers that are common enough to be abbreviated on the cards$ %ith more detail and explanation in the Rules. T%o 6nnate abilities that %e %ill detail are, Fast trike' 0ou strike first in combat$ dealing damage before an opponent gets to deal theirs. 6f you kill them out right$ they deal no damage to you. (ndless >orde' 0our <ombies %ith (ndless >orde may band together to attack$ adding all their attack and health icons together to form a ?bigger@ <ombie. ome innate abilities, &. +ggressive' urvivor can attack an un'tired <ombie. 2. >unter' tealthy !haracters that can only be blocked by another >unter. 1. 6nfected' + urvivor %ho gains damage reduction$ but can turn on your o%n pool of urvivors if killed. 2. 9verkill' (xtra damage is dealt to a supply cache if you exceed health. 5. Fear' Reduce attack. .. Terror' Reduce attack and health 4. Runner' only a single urvivor can block. ;elo% is a list of the Factions and trains.

(lternate Rules. Ravenous has plenty of additional game modes %hich change up the style of game play$ allo%ing for multiple different game styles$ speed$ and strategy. The game mod that is default for the rules is standard. 6ncluded belo% is a 3uick explanation of some of the additional rules and game play modes. Reserves. Reserves$ or Reserve deck$ gives you &5 cards extra that can be s%apped for cards in your deck during best 2 out of 1$ or other such games. +fter the first round you may s%ap as many cards for cards as you %ant$ allo%ing customi<ation. +n alternative mode de of this is you you are allo%ed to s%ap one card$ before your dra% phase but at the start of your turn$ for a card in your reserve deck. 0ou gain a more strategic play mode$ at the sacrifice of some speed. :ulp. :ulp is a violent fast paced game st style yle for Ravenous$ games can run bet%een 2 2'&5 minutes$ and can be %ildly out of control$ fun and one sided. 8sing standard play you eliminate the 2 !haracter limit. ;ecause Ravenous has no fixed resource system$ you can al%ays play cards$ you can drop up to 4 character cards in the first round. This lends to fast build up$ and faster attacks.

(!A vs !!A 5hy not bothBC +s you %ill note in one of our finished$ and polished versions of Drupp$ on the bottom line there is an (!A / %ritten in a box. This allo%s you to predetermine a point value for a game. 6n an exampleE !ommon cards are / points$ uncommon &$ Rare 2. 6F you decide to play by 5 points$ than you can have 5 uncommonFs$ or 2 rare cards$ and & uncommon. The rest %ould be all common cards. This point system is not only great for ne% players$ those %ho %ant to limit their spending but still be competitive$ but it also has one more fantastic bonus. Go% %e can release !!A and (!A expansions. 9riginally the plan %as to alternate bet%een sets and styles. + !!A set is random cards in random packs$ try to catch them all. The (!A releases that %e %ill put out %ill still be pointed %hich means they can still play$ %ithout upsetting the balance$ of the !!A format. !reating a happy %orld for both.

Finally$ and briefly for this is %ay over the 2 pages planned$ >ero and Aod mode. 6n >ero mode you pick a special <ombie$ or survivor$ and place them aside. 0ou still have a deck of ./ cards$ these are bonuses. 0ou get an additional 1 events$ or !haracters "<ombies or survivors#$ that go into the hero pool. (ach round you may pay to play one of those cards$ or bring the special character into play. Aod Hode is exactly the same$ except you get both urvivor and a *ombie.
