PARTS
Stem Support the leaves. Water and nutrients are transported from the roots to the leaves inside the stem Leaves breathe and make the plants food They are produced by seeds Flowering Plants Types Gymnosperms Have small flowers, but no fruit.Their seeds are in cones. i.e. pine trees Angiosperms Have flowers and fruit. i.e. Chestnut
TYPES
Non flowering plants
Types
Mosses Are small plants which live on the rocks, trees and ground Ferns They have thick, underground stems and big leaves
RESPIRATION
Plants breathe, take oxygen from the air and release carbon dioxide. They do it day and night. Plants make their own food, they need: sunlight, carbon dioxide, water and minerals from the soil
NUTRITION
In the soil, minerals dissolve in water Plants absorb this water through the roots These nutrients, called raw sap, travel up the stem to the leaves
Enable plants to make food from sunlight, carbon dioxide, water and minerals It takes place in the leaves. Raw sap mixes with carbon dioxide and become elaborated sap. This is plants food PHOTOSYNTHESIS Its only during the day , and plants release oxygen
Stamens Male reproductive organ. They produce the pollen. Parts of the flower Ovary Female reproductive organ. They contain the seeds. Petals Colored leaves around the stamens and the ovary. Corolla Its a bunch of petals. Its the movement of the pollen from the stamens to the ovary SEXUAL REPRODUCTION Pollination It can be realized by the wind by the water by insects by birds
After pollination the flower changes. Its petals fall, the ovary grows and become a fruit with seeds inside. when the fruit is ripe, its falls to the ground, the fruit opens and its seeds fall out. Tubers are underground stems. i.e. potatoes Bulbs also grow underground. i.e. onions Other plants have stolons. i.e. strawberry plants
