History
KILOSKA was born in 2007 as a food sovereignty network named Tri-people Food Sovereignty Network (TFSN). The name was changed in 2010 as Mindanao Rural Poor Movement (MTPRM) during a Mindanao Rural Congress until it was finally called Kilusang Maralita sa Kananuyan or KILOS - KA. KILOS - KA was organized to respond the dwindling peasant movement throughout the country which further deprives Mindanao rural communities a representation to national and regional discussions and venues. Mindanao rural representations were not only marginalized within the government instrumentalities but even within the civil society organizations at the national and global events. The formation of KILOS - KA was pushed by grassroots organizations all over Mindanao to respond to the global trends that threaten rural population like corporate land grabbing, indiscriminate mining and logging, privatization of communal waters, conversion of food basins. It was hoping that by building KILOS - KA, the demands and issues of the rural communities of Mindanao are communicated forcefully to concerned agencies and institutions.

Goal To develop environment friendly, gender sensitive, and active rural poor community who are committed for environmental protection, sustainable development to defend their land as fundamental means for food production and strengthen itself as organization to become an instrument for voicing out the issues and demands of the rural poor sectors.
